A Good Digital Camera

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a good digital camera to take night pics of neon and signs?

Boss just got a new one to do just that. I'll check Monday, and report back, Sign Guy.

I do it in the transformer box.

You may want to post this on the neon-l email list. Someone asked a similar question a couple of years ago and got a wealth of info on taking pics of neon with a digital camera. Digi cams have only gotten better, so I would think the pics would too.

After snapping some pics with my new Digital Camera ( Canon XT Rebel with a Tamron 28-200mm Lens) I've done some research and experimented on my own. Night time shots are good for a manual setting of an ISO 800 or 1600 and a shutter speed of 100, 200, 250, all the way to 600. I'll try and post some pics when I get a chance :P

Some night pics I've taken so far. I'm still in the hard learving curve playing with the ISO Shutter Speed and White Balance.

I'm noobulous

Here's what I started off with, my channel letter sample case.

Here is a pic I have yet to get better. The background or wall is too dark and not very represent. To my eye the wall should be more visible along with aluminum background graphic. The sign comes out good and accurate, I just have to play with this sign more when I get time

This is my first shots playing with the camera. I think I must have taken about 50 shots of this and these are the best two that show the detail.

This was taken just this last week as I finished up a sign I was doing nextdoor. It was just sunset and I wanted to capture the dusk halo around the building and sign. Glad I brought my camera that day of install :P This is my favorite to date in my new short hobby life
