CT 635 and Master xy-300p machines?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking into purchasing a vinyl cutter for my own existing non-sign business and have looked at these two machines on the internet for a while now. Opinions on cutters seemed to go the way of a Ford vs Chevy discussion(I'm a Toyota guy). I have heard really bad things about the Panthers from some and great things from others. So first off, What the opinion on the CT635 and the XY-300P? Second, With the name brand cutters is it more a user issue with the Panther, Lynx, valuecut...? Or is there a better mid to upper entry level machine out there? I'm not going to run a cutter 8 hrs a day like a sign shop, but I don't want to get a Yugo either. Thanks for the help.

I just recently purchased a XY-300P and I really like it. This is the first cutter I have ever owned. I have had it go crazy a couple of times, but could have been my fault. Don't know. Let me know what you think of yours when you get it. I also look quite a bit and don't think I went wrong for the money.

Scubadog,

I have had my xy300p for a few days now. When you say you had it go crazy was it part way through a cut and it cuts a diagonal through the whole thing? When I print small, ie 24" wide 5"tall, across the width of the cutter everything seems fine. When I copy several of these and go length wise on the cutter the problem happened. Dave from desay called and left me a mesage so I guess i'll talk to him in the morning. I'm not upset with the cutter as it seems to cut well for the money.
