Halo letters

Recommended Posts

We bid a job for an out of town sign company over a year ago, got the job, and started it today. 5' halo lit, self contained neon channel letters into brick. The backs of the letters are spaced 2" from the wall. Before I tell how these letters were installed (we installed according to manufacturer's instructions), I would like to know from anybody who wishes to participate how you would engineer these letters for installation. The letters are 5" deep aluminum channel letters and, as I said, 5' tall. They're all upper case and probably medium helvetica, or similar. Each letter has at least one 'P' type neon transformer mounted to an aluminum box which is mounted to the clear lexan back (1/4").

Please include all the hardware you would use for installing the transformers, attaching the channels to the backing, and of course the letter to the building.

You will not believe how we installed these letters.

Off the top of my head along with the poly-carb rears and aluminum letters. Ventex for the tranny's, aluminum angles for latter back supports as well as attachment for aluminum letters to backs. 1/4" tap anchors, 1/8" or 3/16" thick walled clear round acrylic tubing or PVC piping for the letter stand-off's. Clear Vue poly-carb glass tube supports. Am I missing anything? My heads killing me

I dont think I have ever been a part of an install with that big a letter. I would imagine that you would want a bracket system that will attach to the letter body and have the plastic also attach to the letter body. So the aluminum body will support the weight of the letter and not the plastic.

Surely you will have pics showing the install?

Here's a hint at what we're looking at. I'm sure you can tell the type of mounting from this pic. SG, the transformers are already in the letters and they are magnetic.
