It's now in sites, so wondering who's going?

Similar to the last Vegas show I'd like to set up a meet again. I'm looking at closing time of the exhibit hall so some of the vendors can show. Last time we met at "The Burger Bar", but I don't think that's going to happen this time because last time it was hard to fit the capacity we had at that time. I'd like to pick somewhere close by and large enough to handle enough people for drinks and appetizers. :fnd (8):

So, who's going, who would like to meet?

btw- I promise I won't show up sick this time :P

I already have my tickets, I'm staying at the Orleans. its a little north of the strip but it is a nice casino and the rates are very reasonable.

Orleans was $20 a night when I went down in early December, or was in late November? The Orleans isn't north of the strip, though - it's about 1.5 miles west along Tropicana - back beyond New York and Excalibur if that helps. It's south end and not a long cab ride to the Mandalay where the show is.

I stayed at South Point which is further south from the Strip, but it was $40 for a recently built 4 star. Rates seem kinda high right now (just checked after reading this thread), so depending how the travel economy goes, it might be wise to wait a while and book when the deals come back. I check Vegas rates fairly often and they are as high as I've seen them in some time - I doubt they'll go higher - they should only go down.

Not sure where we're staying yet.

Word on the streets here in Las Vegas is that rates are going to continue to decline. The Adult Video show and the Consumer Electronics Show are at the same time this year - next week - and general consensus is that due to the economy turn out is going to be horrible.

YYZ is right - South Pointe always has good room rates....but a bit down the road...and not really walkable to the main part of the strip.

Orleans is West of the Strip.

Another hotel that is short walking distance to the strip and huge rooms including full kitchen, laundry, etc and is very nice is THE PLATINUM. I would recommend this if you are coming for a few days and you want to reduce costs.

As far as the Meet and Greet - I was planning on hosting a suite at one of the hotels near the show and have food/drinks, etc brought in - I would need a rough count though - so far I have a list of about 40 people that would be coming.

Being a local we get much better rates on a lot of things. If anyone needs tips or advice on where to stay, what to do, what sucks, and what is ok to do...ask.

The most popular and active hotel these days for the 30-40 year old crowd is the new Venetian Hotel called The Pallazzo.

The two hotels with the best night life consistently is Hard Rock and The Palms (you can get unbelievable rooms at Palms Place right now if you book early)

For those of you who have not been to Las Vegas in awhile...things have changed....we are the highest unemployment in the USA, we have the highest amount of foreclosures per capita, and our economy is imploding...so expect a different "lower quality place"....sorry...but its true.

There is also that huge open area bar right in front of House Of Blues as well which is fairly large, if I remember right through all the fog.

LMAO, just now saw this. She might be down to come, she's single and has the option to do things spontaneously. Need someone to help you with you're booth?

Kgirl is married and seems to be able to do things "spontaneously" ----------

Probably not the help that YYZ needed---------its was the party animal he was looking for.

I can't help but encourage that behavior

Would recommend THE HOTEL bar - right off of Mandalay - you can walk there. Is much quieter than anyplace at Mandalay and is usually very empty. Just a suggestion.

Anyone know the name of this lounge right in the middle of the casino floor, here's a pic I have from the 2007 ISA. I think I'd like to have our meet here as soon as the floor closes. I remember, scratch that! From WHAT I remember, it was big and open for people to drop by and meet. I think it's real close to House Of Blues, can't find the name of it on the Hotel website and the information people keep mixing it up with Eye Candy Lounge. I think at this little open lounge that looks like a patio setting there was a small dance floor on the side of it.

That area closed and was reopened to something new and louder/dance clubesque....thats why I recommended the THE HOTEL lobby bar...but then again...I do live here and do know these things.

Thanks, DAMN!!!! I liked that place, it seemed perfect

I peeped out The Hotel Bar and from the pics it looks small and tight (just the way I like my ... never mind!). I'd like to get something open, similar to that place in the pic which is now gone. TheHotel Bar is also listed as one of the most expensive places in Las Vegas, not sure if that's true but I don't wanna pay $12 a beer either.

Last time a the burger bar, our first little meet I was expecting 15-20 and it ended up being 30 at a table and bar stools with no room and a bunch of people just showed up said "Hi" and left because of a lack of room.

Anything else big and open? I'd like to get a few ideas

Some more options to throw out,

Rain Forest Cafe (MGM) Grand with full bar

Liquidity, center of the Casino (Luxor)

Both are casual

Vegas Meet thread

http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/ind...?showtopic=2693

Meeting Friday for sure, just have to narrow a location down based on how many people are down to have a few drinks. I count 25-30 so far at least.

Price probably dropped because Vegas is hurting. I'm sure I end up canceling my original reservations and re-booking before the event as prices drop, this happened last Vegas ISA, think I saved $150-$200 for the weekend.
