SignCraft magazine

Just received my latest issue of Sign Craft. Looking at it I realized that this month and every other month the sign designs all look the same just with different copy. What's the deal? Is it just me or is there not a fresh idea to be seen in that mag. To me it looks like the same 2 or 3 people have designed every job featured in the mag for the last several years. Anyone else see it that way? I am sick of seeing the same fonts/designs and carved signs over and over with just different text!!!!!!!

It could be like the house flipping shows on the home and garden networks, they are all based in Atlanta so all the shows are filmed there.

GOOD things happen for a reason......

I have never heard or seen this magazine.....maybe I'm missing something?

It's more geared toward the digital graphics end and vehicle lettering...and it sucks!

It's more of a "letterhead" magazine, gearing to the hand painters, vinyl guys and dimensional sign shops. Basically non-illuminated signage.

I completely agree that it's almost a cookie cutter template that they just plug new pictures into each month. Many of the same design types, fonts, etc... not much new to see from one issue to the next, though they probably say the same thing about Sign Business.

Magazines can offer their readers A LOT of information (I usually go cover to cover and absorb as much as I can) so it's a shame they have such a limited viewpoint.

Sign Craft, Sign Business, in my nickel analysis, I feel that most trade magazines probably have a preponderance to focus on their advertising bottom line, with no little effort being made to create articles designed to keep those advertisers coming back. This results in "The same old thing" month after month......Of course I still make it a point to scan all the rags out there and still find some good ideas. Forums like this and others are really closer to the soul of Signmakers for info and ideas.
