The best bands that played tight and put on a good show was Rancid and of course Bad Religion! The pits were huge and never did I ever walk out of there without a bloody nose, shredded knuckles and of course looking my PageNet Pager somewhere on the beer soaked concrete.

Those were the days

Bad Religion shows are awesome. It does get pretty intense in the pit during their set.

You like some good bands; kudos.

Best concert I ever went to was Voivod, Anthrax and White Zombie. Amazing atmosphere and very good show put on.

I used to go to a lot of small/medium thrash/metal/punk shows where *real* mosh pits (the ones that go in circles) came out of nowhere, none of this Green Day crap. Fave shows way back when would have to be Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys... but you can't listen to that stuff at the office.

Lately I just stream from shoutcast.com either 80's music, hairband metal, or movie soundtracks.

I do it everyday. But then again I have my own office and nobody can hear my jams. When I used to be in the main office with cubicles, I couldn't play it.

I would love to have seen Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys. I envy you!

I take it you're in Australia? I'll admit to having some old vinyl from the Hard-ons, maybe even still have an original pressing of Smell My Finger.

Gotta love youtube.... these are bringing back some find memories - we covered some of these songs.

More of my faves from back in the day... some very poor quality, but you've got my on a 1987 kick. Covered most of these too.

The Accused - Bethany Home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSO_GN_RiBw (Seattle gods, long before Nirvana & Pearl Jam)

GBH - Diplomatic Immunity

Attitude Adjustment - Johnny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-nsyPLqto0 (the precursor to Metallica - One)

SOD - March of the SOD

(one of the heaviest riffs of all time - lol @ Scott Ian in that vid)

Misfits - Walk Among Us

Circle Jerks - Wild in the Streets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij_3wYvClhA

Dayglo Abortions - Proud to be a Canadian

(gotta mix in some Canadian punk)

I'm in Florida. What makes you think of Australia?

Yeah, I can spend a lot of time on Youtube too... It's slightly addicting.

LOL at Circle Jerks. I have that character tattoo'd on my arm, unfinished work. My favorite punk band growing up

My Favorite band at heart and I have a forever reminder on my arm till the day I die.

I'm shocked they still play, would like to see them if they make their way down to San Diego again. I really wanted to always see Screeching Weasel, but I hear they hate Cali. Seen Social D lots of times, good band to see.

Speaking of "wonderful" that was my fav vinyl album of theirs

PUNKS NOT DEAD!!! :P

I thought it would be humorous to reference them like that!

I envy you for seeing Social Distortion that many times... I've only seen them once.

I'm glad to see you didn't loose your taste in music, as most people I know have.

Ok that concert was pretty amazing. These guys are still very good. Very eclectic crowd and the stage was by far the best set I have ever seen in music - use of technology and how they captivated a stadium was pretty impressive. Bill Clinton, Steve Jobs, Dr. Dre, and a whole bunch of other celebrities were there.

There new song "Magnificent" is very good.

As always though - he did get a bit too political - but it is Bono.

Funniest thing is that the Tour is sponsored by Blackberry - but he thanked Steve Jobs (Apple iPhone and iPod) for being in the audience...was funny.

And the 2010 tour was announced today, so no worries about last one ever. Knowing that they have at least one more album already completed, I don't expect them to stop any time soon. However, they have to do something pretty spectacular if they want to out-do themselves with the stage again!

And (electronic) sign people, I can't believe none of you have been drooling or gushing over this! Saw the show in Chicago, what an incredible feat of engineering, design and build. More on this here (and many other places, but figured I'd plug a sign related site): http://www.digitalsignageuniverse.com/news_barco_070109.html

He is right - this was unbelievable feat of engineering and LED message boards like I have never seen. The part that blew me away the most is at one point all four of them were at least 100 feet apart from each other, not even able to see each other, and the song went together perfectly...that part was truly amazing.
