So, how is it? I'm getting massive traffic from the FL convention, so something must be going on over there.

They must be saying bad things about your website..........and how honest you are.........and how full of s--- that the other ones are.

Or they wanted to see your latest, great pics that we used to be able to share!!!!!!! Man, that was a long time ago.

Now that's sad but true, and yet somehow satiric.

But in all seriousness, just like last year, I'm getting a surge of traffic coming from the convention Wifi and Hotel Wifi from the Floridian state. I should be over there, I can't believe I didn't end up going.

It's all my fault. I hacked into several of the hotel wifis and forwarded a whole whack of porn domains to your site. Anyone who goes on craigslist looking for an escort in Orlando will be forwarded here as well.

The show has been pretty ho hum IMO - of course I tend to snoop around more quietly. It's usually quite easy to let people talk and tell you all kinds of things to impress you - whether they know who/what you are or not.

Lots of Korean companies here instead of Chinese, many of them seem to have been unleashed by Samsung to use their LEDs for sign products. I'll see if I can scoop some samples to send for inclusion in TW or GWH. Generally speaking, Korean products are superior to Chinese and Samsung should be able to make some decent LEDs, but none of these guy have heard of under driving - everything is driven at rated max for the LEDs - or using wire gauges to offset voltage drop.

Outside of that, very little new or innovative. The usual large format guys, EMC guys, LED module guys.

I guess the one "new thing" would be that most of the LED guns have been diverted from neon and are now going after fluorescent. GE, USLED, Agilight, Permlight - all have cabinets with different light sources to light them up. 3M flouting their light sheet - though I predict it won't go far due to the oddball way it has to be used and ordered.

I'm glad we didn't bite the bullet and show here. The products we're coming out with would blow away next year's show, but this tear we might have looked pretty average. We do more custom stuff than most companies and that stuff can't really be shown at this sort of show - we'd only be showing every knock-off artist what we're doing. I'm tempted to just byass this sort of show altogether - aside from private meetings like I have been doing anyways - and focusing on SEGD and Retail Contruction type shows.

A very wise, educated, and strategic thing to do and say. Makes sense to me.

Especially and SEGD show. Besides construction show, Energy companies put out shows too.

There's just such a huge race to the bottom that I don't think we want to be a part of. There are always mid-to-high end clients and projects that want a quality, product that doesn't need to be cheap - that we're made to spec in North America is starting to count more and more as well.

I should admit I'm headhunting as much as anything else ;)

Realistically **cheap shouldn't be part of any company's vocabulary. Price isn't always a factor for success. Value on the other hand is a big part of success. Make something for 1 dollar and sell it for 5 dollars. If there's value in it for the customer they will likely buy it for 5 without ever questioning the price. Try to sell that same item for 1.25.....most people you want to do business with will pass you right on by.

Edit= **changed should to shouldn't as I originally intended.

Alright Syndicate, here's your "wiseguy" assignment coming straight from the top.

While you are there, why not ask some of the LED vendors & Neon Vendors WHY they aren't in the light comparison Projects like "The GReat White Hope, Project Tighty Whitey, or The Red Light District? Ask them, if they REALLY stan behind their products, then why have they declined to submit their products? If they feel their product is so good they THEY are trying to sell YOU, why not take part in our large electric sign community project?

Namely, ask:

JT LED

Sloan

Permlight

US LED

ElectraLED

AgiLight

Tecnolux

LSI

TFT

Tell them to put their money where their mouth is, and NO, Manuel Lynch does NOT own my site. I'm just an electric sign like most reading this forum, I don't manufacturer LED's nor do I produce my own neon.

Then come back here to the Syndicate :Mafia: and tell us what their cop out, ERRRRRRR, excuse was.

This can have interesting and educational results, trust me. I thought I have heard all the excuses, but you never know what we will hear next!

They aren't, but it's not entirely about being the brightest, there are so many other categories:

Color Rendering

Efficiency

Efficiency/Surface brightness

Cost

Life Span

Forgot to mention, I can't make it, but should you walk by:

Eurocom

EGL (say hello to Sean "fishing nut")

Ventex

Philips

Axiom (Not there)

Sylvania (In the process)

AVA Technology

Aristo

YYZ (Walking the floor)

CAO Group

Allanson

Berealis

Tell them "Thank You", thank you for your company having, character, integrity, and the moral fortitude, to participate and take a big step outside of the norm and where others chose not to. That is TRULY, what separates them from their competition.
