ISA 2011 - Viva Las Vegas!

Absolutely, you call it "PR, or Public Relations" expense. Like taking out a client to dinner, only it's yourself :fnd (8):

Make it more legal. Write it off to a "consulting expense" and Eric and I will help you out with that part.

Good thinking

Would losses at the blackjack table fall in that category too ? :P

I don't know about that one. However, it would be a mistake to miss the party! Last one was quite nice - the snake was awesome! Almost wanted to reach out and feel the texture of the skin. Oh yeah - I did that. The tuxedo had a remarkable texture to it also.

I thought Dicks - OUTSIDE - worked quite well. INside was not so nice as it was WAY too noisey.

Looked at the list of seminars offered as they pertain to the electric sign industry. They should all be free. I think I'm done taking any seminars. I've barely walked away feeling like I've learned something in the past. Most of these will be infomercials where the audience has to pay. I should be paid to for MY time.

Only one that looks educational is the engineering seminar, maybe one or two others. Unfortunately, I won't be in until Thurs noon.

There is however a FREE seminar at Dick's Last Resort at 5:30 that has drinks and food, bought by the attendee's of course :beerchug: BUT, far more educational than dropping a few hun and walking away with more questions.

I thought the seminar at Dicks was on Friday night? What's our confirmed times for our seminars -

So far - there hasn't been lots of respondants as to who all is going to attend. Let's keep this one tagged at the top of the forum list so people will sign up for attendance. Perhaps SoT will be there, and the other rag magazines? I did notice that some of them were checking out profiles of people on the forum.

Good Suggestion.

Yes our seminar/party is Friday night. So far rough count is about 25+ easily of the usual (I'm bringing 7 people alone) people not counting those who have chimed into this thread. This years ISA expo is smaller than the last Vegas show in exhibitors and attendee's for sure. Don't know who's going to show, get a lot of people who don't chime. I'm perfectly happy if it's just a small crowd, too big a crowd and it's hard to talk to everyone. Hope the Community Organizer shows up, I have a lot in common with him whether he knows it or not, just disagree on how his mag reports on/to our industry. Magic Mouth is welcome too, I'd like to buy him a drink or two and listen to how our industry saves out clients 80% in energy costs.

Out meet is also the same time of the begging party "National sign company, sign me up to install your signs I'm a small company", so peeps have to pick and choose. For those who don't know better, it's better to network here than show up to someone and pass along a card with 10 second sales pitch of the time to sell yourself, your card will get lost that night anyway with that rep getting ripped at a tittie bar.

The AxiomLED party will begin and pick up when the Sign Syndicate party ends at Dicks...

We have over 100 people signed up to come so we are dividing the group up into 4 groups.

Group 2 will be meeting us at Dicks....

And yes Erik, if your wife can party this time, you may never even know where you went or where you will wind up!!!!

I have two competitors joining our party + Sean and EGL - so I think this will show clearly that this is just a community party about having fun!!! and maybe learning something new....in a very odd environment!!!

This years ISA expo is smaller than the last Vegas show in exhibitors and attendee's for sure.

Actually, the numbers are up considerably from 2009 (Vegas) and 2010 (Orlando). (I believe that 2007 Vegas was our largest show ever, and probably will retain the title. This year will probably finish as ISA's 2nd largest show.)

The 2009 show's final numbers were 163K square feet of exhibit space (522 exhibiting companies). The 2010 final numbers were 160K of exhibit space (473 companies). The current numbers* for 2011 show 195K square feet of exhibit space among 557 exhibiting companies. (* = Final numbers tend to bump up a little bit because some companies choose to add the show at the very last minute. Why this happens, I don't know, but it happens each year. And very few drop out at this point b/c the exhibit space is already paid for.)

I don't have access to all the current attendee and housing numbers, but I know that as of 4 weeks out, our registered attendance is on par with 2009 and room reservations in our hotel block (Mandalay, Luxor, Excalibur) is up 16% over 2009. (Of course, I will note a huge caution in looking at attendee numbers because each year a very large percentage of attendees registers very close to the show start. Whether that is linked to exhibitor's marketing the free trade show passes or another factor, I don't know.)

That's great! What has the attendance been of exhibitors and attendees of foreign visitors vs. domestic, decline/increase? I notice a big jump every time of foreign visitors and exhibitors with each show. The 2007 which I was at, was a big show. In monitoring various forums I've read a lot of people not attending that normally would, some have said they registered, but not sure if they will actually make the trip. It seemed to be worse this year than the last in reading. However, I will be there! For sure in Orlando 2012, which will be our first east coast trip.

numbers are up due to room rate reductions - I live in Las Vegas and can tell you - casinos seem busy but the reason revenues are down is that people are coming to town on cheap airfares ($12 on Allegiant from Orange County), staying on cheap room rates, table minimums are lowered, and the high end restaurants are now reducing prices by 50-70%.

So I am not sure it is all people going to ISA - it is Spring and the pool parties are starting.... you will see a lot of bikinis at the hotels but not many going to the show.

Spring break.

Airfare & Hotels are definitely cheaper at this years show, we are flying in ($49 airfare) versus driving (5/6 hours). Kenny, did exhibit real estate drop this year vs 2009?

I don't know much at all about attendee demographics, not being involved in any of the marketing or tradeshow meetings. One good source of some basic information can be found in our Exhibitor Prospectus (2011 version) Of course the profile of attendees is different in Orlando and in Vegas. For example, Vegas captures more international attendees from mexico and Orlando draws better from Ontario/Quebec. And plenty of drive-in attendees only come to one show location, but regularly return every second year.

Yeah, Ive seen more and more Chinese/Korean vendor products than years before, not just at ISA but at NMB as well.

Our room block only captures people who (1) register through our website when they registered for the Expo; or (2) register through the hotels/aggregators websites, but also registered for the Expo.

Folks staying at Mandalay/Luxor/Excalibur but not attending our show are not included in our totals.

I noted the exhibit space numbers in my first post. Basically, there is an increase of 32,000 square feet currently sold for the 2011 Expo over the final numbers for the 2009 show.

I meant in cost for a Vendor to have one. We're keeping you active here today Kenny, lol, the most on MONTHS! :P

I was getting at maybe the overall low cost (air/hotel/booth) may be a big invitation in the jump.

Will you be cruising the exhib floors again? I'll be sure to look for you.

:)

No, the price did not drop this year.

I will be around all three days. During most of the show hours I will be in the ISA booth (which is in the back center this year and not near the main entrance), manning the "Code Experts" station along with Bill Dundas.

We will be announcing the specifics of our party soon...we have over 120 people signed up.... coming from all over - Peru, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Indiana... very international crew this time. The Dollar is weak after all.

Weather turned very cold today in Las Vegas.

Anyone know of any clubs that spin house and hiphop in the vicinity of the convention?

You ever figure out if you're going to Vegas or not?

Sorry to say not this year. A job deadline and a visit from family from out of state will keep me here this time.

Do you ever get down to the Orlando show Gary? Hopefully I will get a chance to meet some of you down here next year.
