Problem with "additionally insureds"

We are spneing an unreasonable amount of time going round and round with many of our general contractor clients. Our insurance company (CNA - one of the largest) has stopped issuing certificates of insurance with specifically named additional insureds. Our certificates state if there is a contract then all parties concerned are additionally insured. I know in the past doing specific certificates for all of our jobs (thousands a year) and sometimes listing as many as 40 individual names was a tremendous burden - for both CNA and our broker. Now we go round and round with GCs who act like this is a major problem - we discuss several times with several layers of GC management then our certificate gets accepted. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have a solution?

This is a real problem, and in California they've also been asking for waivers of subrogation on most projects these days. We work with an insurance broker rather than with one of the big insurance companies. We have an assigned rep. who understands our account and is willing to call up the contractor and do some of the legwork with getting the wording right. Insurance is still a big pain, but using a broker does help.
