Recommended Posts

Has anybody out there ever changed a fluorescent sign cabinet to L.E.D. lighting? Any products out there worth looking into? Thanks for any help!---Peace out, SB

Have seen some smaller boxes relamped with LED's on the boardwalks by the shore and they have been changed back over when there is T8 and T12 signs very close to them. Dollar for dollar not worth it IMO but if the customer doesn't mind go for it

GOOD things happen for a reason......

We have done very few. The calls from customers we do get are because they heard L.E.D. lighting is less expensive. They usually change their mind once they get the second option of using standard fluorescent lamps because of cost. The cabinets that we have done I do know that their just not as bright.

Sent a small D/F cabinet using LED's to Jamaica where the electricity is apparently very expensive. It's not as bright as HO lamps but it still gets the job done. Even got 4 lines of changeable copy on there. Powered by one 60W power supply (both sides).

How does retrofitting the cabinet affect the listing decal installed for the original lighting? Just curious since I see lots of retrofit jobs where the power info label still says lamps, transformers, ballasts but nothing shows the changes done.

absolutely nothing. LOL probably wasn't up to code to begin with or has been serviced so many times that it wouldn't pass if it were looked at.
