Mississauga firefighters battled a fire at a sign factory early on Monday morning.

The fire began in a building at the corner of Lenworth Drive and Wharton Way, near Dundas Street and Dixie Road, around 2:20 a.m.

There was at least one explosion, and the roof partially collapsed, acting platoon chief Dan Green told CityNews.

“We’re not able to get crews inside. There are walls in the way. The roof’s in the way,” Green said.

At one point, at least seven trucks were involved.

No injuries were reported. No employees were working at the time and the owners were notified by the alarm company, Green said.

The company makes fixtures for stores, including plastic and wooden signs, Green said. There are several other companies in the building, including a beauty supply store and an accounting business.

Toronto fire crews also arrived at the scene, but were not required and left immediately.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in.
