  1. Hey all, just saw this topic drop off the recent list so i thought I'd bring it back up. My wife and I will be heading out to the show from Columbus Ohio. We have a 4 1/2 hour flight stright thru and are supposed to be there Thursday night. The missus is not into the whole sign gig that much but she couldnt turn down the chance to come out (first time). I know I'm a newbie but maybe I'll get a chance to start matching mugs with names. Anyone interested in arranging a little partay?
  2. My two cents... I don't know about any type of fancy algebraic equation to figure it out but I have found it handy to create a easy measuring guage. Take a full 50 yard roll and measure the diameter, unroll it at logical increments (10', 20', 20' etc) and measure the diameter at each interval. Then you can use 1/8" clear acrylic, D/S tape it to a trimmed core end and use vinyl to create multiple increasing circle sizes radiating out from the core that correctly gauge the remaining material. Though it takes a bit of time up front it is very useful and quick to gauge a roll after you have your template done.
  3. Hey Gary, That was an excellent article! I was able to read it in about 20 minutes so I would definitely recommend that everyone invest that time. This information will shake the way you have been conditioned to think and maybe open up some possibilities. There are some other excellent books for you sign guys... Rich Dad, Poor Dad by robert Kyosaki as well as Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill. These will dramatically change the way you think about things. I know what it's like to spend all day (and night somtimes) running the shop yet I know it is important to find the time to keep educating myself about new things. We all got in the sign game to make a living and build something nice for ourselves and our families. Don't sell your self short by getting caught in the daily grind so much that you miss the next 25 years zipping by! Allright... down off the soapbox...
  4. Just a General FYI... My company specializes in high end electrical, dimensional and custom vehicle wraps. I have had the opportunity to do some international traveling in order to install some cool vehicle graphics projects and am always looking for opportunities to do more. I have a valid US Passport and am able to go all over the place to work. Let me know if you have a need and I will be happy to help! 5. I went and saw it a couple of days ago and all I can say is... WOW. Westcoast Sign Guy is right on the money how there are such obvious parallels between the Greek / Spartan idealistic "free" society and our own. Ancient Greece is remembered and revered even today as a groundbreaking society who valued peace, art, the democratic process and freedom for all citizens. What is conveniently lost in our schools, and most people like to forget, is what type of strength was absolutely required to achieve it all. Without those brutally trained men who valued an honorable death above all else there would have been noting left of this civilization. Our way of life would have never happened. "True freedom is never free" Truly inspiring movie - though I would not recommend it for the faint of heart.
