  1. Looks like the old Signtech CTS Clip Its listed in the Loxcreen catalog but SignComp now owns the rights to the Signtech line of extrusions … If its still available … I guess either one should be able to help you out! www.loxcreen.com Hope this helps, Kevin
  2. Drew, According to the scan of the 1988 SignTech catalog I have, they are SignTech Flex Holder Clips. SignComp now owns the rights to the SignTech line of extrusions. Give SignComp a call … If they're still available, they should have them. Kevin
  3. Yep … Calls it out in the marking section notes … "Marking: Company name or tradename/trademark "UNI LED", and product designation." And ditto on Craig's disclaimer!!!
  4. Paul … That file number is listed in the SAM manual … BUT … Its listed under LED Kingdom Inc. out of Orlando FL. It's on pg 81. Now they may manufacture the PS and private label them for Everylite.
  5. Not true as far as UL is concerned .... UL 48 15th Edition Page 56 4.3.4 Disconnect Switch 4.3.4.2 - A disconnect switch shall have a marked "Off" position and shall disconnect the supply source by causing an air gap between opposing contacts in a circuit. When the switch is operated vertically rather than horizontally, the down position shall be the off position.
  6. Customer wants LED. We have kept him at bay for YEARS ...... Haha ...... but some of his buddies have convinced him, and we haven't been able to convince him other wise, that LED will save him TONS in electricity and service calls. It is a sign that is so old, the lettering on it is hand painted!! The letter strokes are about 12" or even less in some spots. And the dog is about 18" tall - possibly 24" ........ currently there is red, white and blue neon being used. The word restaurant at the bottom is likely even 8" tall Angie ... With the various colors it sounds like you will need ... Take a look at Sloan's V-Series modules .... http://www.sloanled.com/channel-letter-lighting.html Kevin Kevin, The link you put up doesn't work. Tells me the web address is unavailable ........ Is it on the Sloan website or a vendor's website? I so greatly appreciate all of your help. Angie .... Its on Sloan's website .... But i did not pick up on the fact you were replacing exposed neon .... These LEDs will not work for that application. Kevin

  9. I wish I could learn how to paint like this ... I can barely paint a fence. Take a few minutes and check out the trailer .... These folks are true artists!! http://signpaintermovie.blogspot.com
  10. Chubby a push mower is one thing ... but a riding mower is a whole different story! Sorry ... I can't seem to attach photos???
  11. Chubby a push mower is one thing ... but a riding mower is a whole different story!
  12. Doesn't sound like its the lamps that are your problem here! You may want to touch base w/ your supplier and verify the faces were printed to be backlit.
  13. We just got back in the building ... That was crazy!
  14. New sign hack photos ... A co-worker came across these signs over this past weekend and took some photos for me. He said there were several empty stores in the shopping center and all the signs (without faces in them) were built the same way. Hey ... At least they used pressure treated lumber to hold up the light fixture! They're certainly going to need it w/ the gapping hole in the top of the sign for the non-weather proof flexible conduit to pass through. No labels on the sign ... Go figure!
  15. 3m has a Frosted Crystal (Sand-Blasted Look) #7725SE-324 which is UV resistant and can be applied to the first surface. You would also want to apply a second layer of one of their white diffuser films, either 40% or 60% light transmission. These films are not UV resistant and will need to either be laminated w/ the Frosted Crystal on top exposed to the elements or on the second surface of the polycarbonate sheet. FWIW ... I'm sure you are aware but thought I would mention the polycarbonate sheet needs to be UV resistant as well ... so any sanding or sandblasting you do would need to be on the second surface of the sheet otherwise your clear panel w/ yellow from the UV. Last idea ... GE has a clear lexan sheet ... SG308 that is UV resistant and has a matte (textured) finish on the first surface ... You could apply the diffuser to the second surface and drop out the areas that needed to remain clear.
  16. Depends on the application but if it is visible .... what about applying a frosted vinyl to the sheet? Also how big of a piece you need can be an issue since I'm sure having a seam is not an option. If its for a backlit application and is not visible ... just sand it. You can mask out the parts that need to remain clear w/ some vinyl and sand the rest.
  17. Video clip shows the damage to the wall .... http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local-beat/Mall-Mayhem-Wall-Collapse-at-Milford-Mall.html
  18. Check w/ N. Glantz & Son ... I know they use to carry a line of annealed "F" retainer.
  19. Are they selling Direct? I don't have any distributors selling any of their products They said the products would be available through distribution. I told them i made the post the SS stating they were still in business. They were appreciative and said they were going to make a post of their own as well. I let them know that our distributors were the ones telling us their products were no longer available. He said they are working to get the word out and let everyone know going forward it is BAU.
  20. Thats interesting... How was the show we didn't get to go this year Show was OK .... The number of companies showing this year was really down. Each year the size of the show tends to shrink more and more. Spent Friday going to seminars and drove back Saturday to walk the show. Always good to see the people you talk to all year long. As far as anything earth shattering not really (other then Electrobits being there). Sloan has a couple new modules coming out after the new year. Permlight was there but nothing new coming out. GE was there but didn't really chat w/ those folks. I'll tell you what ... Ventex's LEDs are pretty darn bright. They had a display box there and you could pop in any of their major competitors modules in for a side by side comparison. I really liked what i saw. Last time i saw the system, you needed a PC face to make it a UL compliant enclosure since its not Class 2 system. They have since rec'd UL's approval and you can now use standard acrylic w/ the system. Peaked my interest enough to take a second look at them. I went to the new UL Seminar and it pretty much covered the same material we did last year and then reviewed some of the changes we are going to be seeing over the next 18 months. The DQI test we took last year after the seminar is no longer valid. They are now requiring a new test be taken to become a MTR (Manufactures Technical Representative) and you can take the test online at UL University.com. Anyone who took the test at the Seminar last year in AC will not have to pay for the new test, but you still have to take it. In the end, it was good to get out of the office for the day and hopefully i'll be able to catch up w/ you guys at the ISA show next year.
  21. FWIW .... I went to the USSC show today and was surprised to see an Electrobits booth (thought they went out of business). Spoke to the rep briefly ... They are still open for business and offering the full product line ... Grounding Rings, Pass-Thrus, etc.
  22. I'm willing to bet what they were told was you can not install a UL Recognized Component in the sign unless it is in the SAM manual and installed within the conditions of use listed. An updated version of the SAM manual was just issued this week by UL, the manual has a revision date of July 23, 2009. The France HID unit was not in the last issue of the SAM manual but has been added to the most recent addition. (I've attached a screen shot for you to reference) Depending on when the inspection was ... the inspector may have referenced the old SAM.
  23. Sounds like a good time was had by all! Well I guess there's always next year ... I'll have to start working on getting approval from the big guys for that one now!
  24. Well .... another sign went over on Wednesday. Luckily no one died in this incident but the elderly couple involved received multiple injuries and are in intensive care. Here is the link to the article. http://www.suntimes.com/news/nation/153031...-041609.article
  25. Sorry to hear about that Gary .... Brian is right though, a person w/ your talent will not be out long! How many people did they layoff?
