  2. LOL, As I was writing this I was also on a conference call with our service Team and just overheard one of our customers now has an app for onsite clock-ins / outs and if you don't use their app your rating score goes down. Focus is on activates vs results. So what can you? Comply. Its an opportunity, those that don't will lose out. So we had all the Techs download the app, and off we go to better ratings. :) Smile, your in the sign business!
  3. You (we) get what you tolerate. Having said that, yes, there are too many non-sign professionals in the mix with "total" facility brokers and higher level management being forced to document and justify more and more. There is also a request / requirement now to document more because the technology allows us to - so that means we MUST have it. I agree there is too much emphasis on the ACTIVITIES vs the RESULTS. Unfortunately, its not going away. Moral problem? Look at the top - as goes the leader, so does the organization. Try a Tech appreciation day! And then reinforce appreciation and challenge them. I also agree its more widespread than just our industry, we are in stagnation right now and its a grind for most. Plus this economy is being propped up on toothpicks and the indecisive-ness is taking its toll.

  14. There was a time I would agree Erik, but I have seen it too many times, and I have experienced what you are saying myself more than I care to remember. The truth is - Good Guys often finish LAST. And I for one am really tired of it, it affects us too and our families. Enough is enough. I have recently graduated to hard ball, and I dont take no $*#& from anyone anymore, especially from within.
  15. I attended, seemed about the same size as last year. Dave Fellman did a great 5 session sales and time management seminiar. Always good to see and thank the vendors. A few new EMC and Digital SIgnage players this year. Much of everything else was the same. It has been a rough economy but if you talk to some of the vendors you know they ar busy, 5 and 6 lead times for wholesale, most of which has only been recent. These things are what we make of them, the attendees (us) also need to attend (and contribute) or the vendors will say the same thing. i dont go to just to see the latest machinery or "show specials" my buying habits require more time and research...I go to build on my relationships, to thank the partners that have helped us and yes, always looking for new vendors as well. For those of us that are local its a great convienent way to get and remain connected - i always get something out of the semiars and take as many as I can. if it dissapeared all together i think we would be sorry, what we need is positive messages to motivate members and attendees and get it growing again.

  18. Dominic, i tend to feel the same way about industry rags, however they did send out a survey as does ISA and USSC. We participate and use the results with a grain of salt. I do find it usefull in some ways.
  19. Your not being unrealistic to THINK they have some responsibility, but you might be to excpect them to chip in. If they do, hang on to them and build that relationship becasue that is rare from my experience. We have similiar issues happen more than we would like, getting reimbursed for labor is tough - although absolutley is the right thing to do.
  20. Oops... Well, if anybody needs them, Ive been there, pretty impressive. :)
