  1. Just noticed a high number of bounce backs after sending this weeks Sign Syndicate newsletters out. I didn't really pay attention to the last few but I did this week. Lot's of complete domain's (company email) gone as well as "Individual is no longer with our company" The positive part that now makes sense is that lots of members who have joined recently are "passed members"
  2. It's no shot at me, no worries. I'm semi -retired on sign production. I only have a handful of clients that refuse to go elsewhere. Also, it's only in my local market. Our Electric Sign Supply sales don't amount to much here locally because our market is all based on lowest price NOT quality....it's a shame really The upside to the few items I distribute is that I know what I'm talking about unlike the distributor/sign supply rep most talk too on product information or questions. I give customers and sign shops my first hand knowledge on use and testing and won't read them info from the product "Faq" page, or rely on info from some manufacturer rep if a product is going to "last" Staying somewhat active in sign production/installation also keeps me up to speed with the Electric Sign Industry trends and active demand as well as codes, unlike a sign supply rep who was selling cars one week to selling sign components...or a sign supply rep who has been around for years but yet never produced or installed a sign. The Sign Syndicate Members and Customers worries, are also my worries...it's always been that way I only distribute products I have tested, used, and or created ourselves like our new BrightON LEDs which has been taking the best characteristics of LED modules from all our testing over the years and putting it all into one product line. I'm not looking to be the next big sign supplier, far form that. I just want to sell high-end components to shops looking to produce high-end signs that last...and work efficiently. But I feel you on the COVID shut down, how it's making for desperate times. People loosing their jobs, working minimal hours, schools shit down and requiring zoom only and requiring parents to stay home and not work if that is possible. Making people get into areas they might not normally dap into I could write a long thread with all the BS Kirstie is dealing with at the hospital and how the medical community is widening/broadening COVID symptoms to count more people all to get paid more by MEDiCAL, and to politically keep the number positive cases higher. In my state, with what they're doing...we will never open up. It's not testing more to get a higher number of +'s....it's broadening and changing what can lead to + symptoms... Sorry for taking a medical tangent on your thread....it just pisses me off
  3. Just like to announce that we now stock France Westrim Burroughs 1" Grid Pattern Paper for Neon production and Channel Letter & Electric Sign wall Pattern Paper. This is the BEST Heavy Duty Kraft Paper for "On The Fly" patterns that need to get made by hand in the shop, on the field. For quick un-install & quick re-install. Especially for signs not done by your shop! This is the best Pattern Paper you can use. I've posted pics of this paper plenty of times in the past, I truly believe in it and it makes setting up channel letter patterns much easier with the grid and heavy weight of the paper. Specs: - 70 Lbs Heavy Premium Quality Kraft Paper - 1" Grid with 1/4" Plot Points - 48" x 110 Yard Roll (38Lbs) And with our Sign Syndicate's own BrightON II Constant Current 180˙ 24V LEDs for maximum brightness and efficiency
  4. ****Update - Now Stocking Westrim #100 and #300 Neon Glass Housings
  5. Wow, so good luck with getting any clear acrylic sheets along with Weld-On
  6. One thing I'm starting to see sign companies use as a tool along with the threats of a lien, and don't know how legal it is but cutting off the additional insured certification carry
  7. Updated. We now stock France Lighting Solutions Eco 24V Power Supply in a 60W unit
  8. So for some time we've had two main pages that I've had out there and thought that maybe I need to make it as just one. 1) Our Landing Page, which I'm using at a main page. When you type in www.thesignsyndicate.com or click on the logo located at the upper left you will come here http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/ 2) Our old Portal Page, which use to be our main page. Which recently I moved to the top menu "What's New" http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/index.php?/portal/portal/ Is this too confusing having both? Do you prefer one over the other? Which one do you dislike to like better? Some have told me in the past that they dislike 1 or 2 I need your feedback Thanks!
  9. La Mesa city hall is about 15 minutes away and that got destroyed, burned and looted. Many probably didn't hear about it. We don't have the same issues as LA which is not that far. Our city mayor is still a pussy, but not that much of a pussy as the LA Mayor, and our police take care of shit pretty fast...unlike LA. We had a protest/riot downtown, but it didn't last that long
  10. I'm hearing a lot of conversations about Sign Company Employers having issues getting employees "back" to work. Some find it easier to stay "unemployed" and collect a check. Some want to stay partial employed to get the "Covid $600" check. Some states like mine, the Grand State of California dripping back the Shut Down slooooowly, while a lot of states are almost fully open. Anyone running into this issue?
  11. Curious about something. I'm in one of the worst states there is in our grand Union and there is no sign of Business Like Usual. With everything shut down, in just the last few weeks I've had about 3 phone calls from clients who have lost their business's because of $0 income, to quote them on Sign Removal. PPP, and Self-Employed unemployment isn't enough to pay bills and a lease. I've hated everyone of those calls, mainly because I've seen their venture from start to finish and excitement that was there on startup. We all know, starting something new there is risk involved. But whoever saw this coming. Anyway, it's gut wrenching at times. Was wondering if some of you have taken the same calls
  12. Obviously I haven't been up on current events when it comes to our Brochure Magazines, and it might have gone unnoticed but apparently S&DG's is no more. The magazine like a the rest were getting thinner and thinner. They had a few good tech guys writing articles but for the most part S&DG's was the worst of the three with their advertisers writing nothing but infomercial articles and trying to dictate the industry to pass through their business and whatever they were trying to pedal.
  13. Hi Sharon, We're just south of you, deaths and cases are low over here. In fact, many who have Covid don't even know they have it, many have Covid with minor symptoms, and those who had a case of it were just sent home and recover. The ones hit the hardest which wasn't much were the elderly or those with susceptible conditions. Right now our Urgent Cares and ER's are empty, my wife who works in the ER has been pretty idle with Covid. This is a good thing because we need to open up, live life and open up our economy, those who have health concerns should of course resume behind closed doors On another note.... I've gotten a lot of newsletter bounce backs from complete companies who are now out of business along with emails with auto-reply's of "This person is no longer employed here" In platforms like LinkedIn I've seen a lot of familiar faces with "Looking for my next opportunity" on their employment title It's been sad to see. So our industry has taken a pretty big hit
  14. Anyone slowly getting back to work? Or Pretty much still shut down?
  15. Sorry missed this, sorry been weird in SoCal Yeah, my oldest is in his mid 20's but going to Boston to live his dream with his gf. I still have a 20, 17, and 11 yr old to give me hand when I need it ?
  16. I'm curious. Being what was "normally" Spring Break and since the Shut Down what were your plans that got cancelled, and what plans of yours still may get cancelled ? This month for Spring Break I was supposed to go to Pismo Beach and camp on the beach with my two younger boys. There was a possibility I was going to go to ISA, that was cancelled for sure. I might go in August but I wouldn't be looking forward to a hellascious humidity trip to Orlando....We'll see. What will travel restrictions look like in August??? This June we were going to have a Family Beach Camping trip to Capinteria CA for a week. I'm not so sure this one will go through. We were supposed to go to two away NFL Patriot Games that would be here in the West Coast, and one Home Game in Baastin. But who know what travel will be like. My oldest is moving to Boston at the end of this month and what was hard to find housing has been an easy find with the cost even dropping. I'm assuming all this price dropping is due to students having to leave. So, what were/are your plans?
  17. Hope everyone is staying healthy and hopefully trying to navigate through this Shut Down. Thought I'd post a webinar Signs of The Times is doing on the Care Act this Thursday April 16 that might be helpful https://event.on24.com/eventRegistration/EventLobbyServlet?target=reg20.jsp&referrer=&eventid=2272693&sessionid=1&key=36D2D121878B99FE13248D14965EBC40&regTag=934322&sourcepage=register I sat through the first one, though it didn't apply to me I though it was helpful as it's geared towards Sign Shops
  18. Thought I would give everyone an advance preview of our BrightON LED Nano. Our New Nano Module for all your micro Sign Projects such as mini Channel Letters, Halo Letters and Mini Lighting. Our BrightON II LED Modules already are an amazing high efficiency Module, now it's just been Nano Sized!! Check out those Micro Optics! - 175 Deg High Efficiency Super Optics - IP68 - 7100K - U.L. File E520387 - 150Lm/w - WoW!! - 12V - Constant Current The Light Spread on these Nano's is Amazing, I can't even tell you how excited we are......I'll have some pics of that light spread soon! YES, this Nano LED Module is CONSTANT CURRENT
  19. Took some digging. But thought this might help apply for your project Here is two Day/Night Projects with dark or near black faces This is Ideal This is not to Ideal and hard to read in angles. The property manager wouldn't allow the returns be white This is all black reverse and returns are 2" or 1.5". Better for all black if you have to do them that way like we did, but still ideally white returns would have been better. As Jacob mentioned on LEDs...I'm sure you already know but thought I'd mention for readers...point them in the pan for light dismemberment oh and, LoL. If you want any suggestions on kick ass White LEDs for your lighting try ours. 24V, much better than 12V and ours are so bright and efficient! Your customer will love you for it! http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/index.php?/forums/topic/9088-that-bright-halo-illumination/
  20. First, I've removed all political comments from this thread. If you want to post political topics and comments do that here http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/index.php?/forums/forum/41-bar-stool-madness/ My intention of this topic is to find out all the "going's on's" of our industry and how all you are doing and hopefully hanging in there and staying healthy. Secondarily , how all this shut down will affect us and our industry. Looks like most of everything is closed down until end of April. My kids are out of school like most and won't return physically until their next school year and class schedule done on Zoom Kgirl's been mostly busy at her other job working in the Hospital ER so she's on the frontlines so to speak. My feeling is we've already been hit with a mild case (she brought home with her) of the COVID, and the small flu we had came and passed, her symptoms were more close to the Corona than mine, loss off smell, taste, etc. Most of what she's run into and positive cases are just flu symptoms, quarantine and let it ride out. Very few death cases and when they are they were, they were elderly and individuals susceptible due to their current health, like most flu sickness can result in. I'm at a standstill with work here locally and any work is only coming from here. Right now.... I'm bored. Just been working out, running, biking, lifting weight, and making beer! Thought I'd share a small batch that I did of a Pale Ale And lot's of late Nights under the stars smoking Cigars Drinking my Beer and all while listening to Talk Radio Well the positive to all this I will most likely accomplish and finish all those things I said I would "Get too" Stay healthy out there!!
  21. If I'm reading you right, for the Black faces on a white background I would go with white returns. Make it two-tone
  22. I have to laugh at UL Right now. I just received that long boring..."our company is doing this to ensure yadda yadda..." on the Virus. With links to click on to ensure you're using "UL approved Medical supplies" Can they not be anymore retarded than they already are during these times, people are having to 3D print their face masks right now
