  1. My wife was out on the streets, working! :) My life didn't skip a beat. Too bad us real taxpayers can't risk taking some organized time off. We could cripple this country in a week. And show the snowflakes who still controls their whiny butts. Not to mention, we'd wake up the politicians.
  2. Welcome! I almost spent the night there last summer (Worthington). But some Ameri Inn hotel wanted $140.00. So we went on to the Casino in Redwood Falls. I have a cousin who lives in your city. Lot's of windmills if I remember correctly.
  3. I'm in Dallas, if that's any help. We do work in Austin, 6-10 times per year. But it has to be worth, both of ours time.
  4. Great post! Here I am pulling my hair out after only 25 yrs in the biz. Keep on rocking!
  5. I was just F-ing with you. :D But.... I'm all about "Making America Great Again!" Which I do to the best of my ability, each and everyday. I'm also ready to watch that, "Swamp get Drained!" I firmly believe Trump will end up being the greatest POTUS of our time. He will not let anyone, in either House, stand in his way. He'll go straight to the voters, and call out the obstructionists by name. Neither party supported him. I don't think he'll kiss their rear, to accomplish his goals. It's never been done before. He'll do it.
  6. Sloganeering? "Trust but verify" "Made in China" and "Never be afraid to see what you see." Got it!
  7. I'm also ecstatic with our new POTUS (elect)! I've been on the band wagon from day 1. Without repeating everyone's great comments. I'll just add, "Make America Great Again, and Drain the Swamp!"
  8. I buy mine from local Steel Suppliers. Check around your area. Someone sells heavy wall pipe.
  9. 4 years ago. Allen Industries had us waste a bunch of time, and money on 2 of those.
  10. Good luck, same deal here. I think the money's dried up for plastic(s). We just load up our 40 yard dumpster with it. Now wood recycling would be nice. I guarantee I have (x14) 40 yard dumpsters worth of wood that goes to the land fill yearly. Probably more... But I don't have the yard space for 2 40 yard dumpsters.
  11. I was they are out of business. We had a few jobs out there with them. They paid us, mostly in full. They had a great group of folks working with them. I enjoyed a long relationship with them. I believe a lot of their people went to Jones Signs.
  12. We are also busier - to the point of looking for more employees. Our guys are very well paid also and moral here is generally good. But I totally understand about the requirements from the national sign companies - my techs absolutely HATE those call in/call out requirements. The nationals do that so we can't charge them time to travel to the sites. And those low "NTE"s just kill me. They always say to call from the jobsite if the NTE needs to be adjusted. We don't have our techs EVER quote prices for the customer, the techs can call the office with what they need and we call the customer - and most of the time can't get an ok to do the work, so they have to pay another trip fee. Just ridiculous to spend time sitting at a jobsite waiting for an ok when we have so much work to do. I actually prefer photos of the sign working - a manager's signature doesn't mean much because most of the time the managers don't even know the sign is out. Since we all have smart phones now I just signed us up for DropBox and we can easily download the photos now. But it is pricey. Then again, what in this business isn't? You don't charge for travel time? I do. I have to pay the employees drive time, fuel, insurance... You know the deal. I'm not eating that time.
  13. We're busier then we can handle. Sadly we've been telling people, no. My techs, seem to be happy. But they're mature adults. Who get paid very well for what they do. Everyone gets O/T. And everyone gets at least 1, 3 day weekend a month. (Except me) I have no problem doing all the paperwork required by our customers. My techs fill it out at the job sites, on the customers dime. Before we get a sign off, or clock in/out of an IVR system. If they require a ton of individual pics to be uploaded. Or have a huge list for a technical survey. I cover that in my price to them. That being said. One of my favorite national customers was bought out/sold about 2 years ago. Haven't done much for them since the big change. They sent me a survey request today. To go 50 miles, survey a full building, pole sign for reface, lamp count, and check circuits. Then add a ton of office time. They wanted to pay $150.00.... Sent them my price back. No reply...
  14. I've had my Summa for almost 10 years. Granted we don't use it everyday. But zero problems... Knock on wood, also!
  15. No, it's about the numbers. Pure and simple. It has nothing to do with White America. It has to do with the .03% (inflated) number. Telling the other 99.7% what to do. We live in a Republic, not a dictatorship. Which is currently being shoved down our throats. To even attempt to make a business remodel their business to add an extra bathroom, is pure selfishness. If a business wants to do this, fine. But thinking adding a bathroom to any commercial business costs less than 15-20k, is being clueless. What's the ROI on that new "transgender/I identify as another sex" bathroom? At a 10% profit, that .03% will need to spend $150-200K. In each business, to cover the biz owners expense. Just because someone identifies as something, or someone. May be reality in their head. But not so much in other peoples minds. I don't care if your gay, black, white, or a reptilian serpent person. Be it, do it. But don't expect everyone to bend over backwards to accommodate you. You think you deserve special treatment? Then give that to others.
  16. In my short stint working for Sharon Toji who is known as "The ADA Sign Lady" I learned why we have government mandated ADA signs. Sharon is legally blind, and I am not that far behind her. If we went back to the cheap flat restroom signs of Pre ADA days, it would be extremely difficult for any blind or semiblind person to find the correct restroom. As the baby boom generation goes into senior citizenship, with all of the medical problems that ensue with aging. ADA. Knocking ADA signage is definitely WRONG. I see noting wrong with acommidating transgender people. Just where in the hell are they going to go to use the restroom? It is not a new problem, It has always been ignored in the past. No one is "knocking ADA" signs. And where in the hell have they been peeing for the last 100 years? Man, I've bitten my tongue on many of your posts in the past. But this post of yours, takes the cake. Let a man go pee with your 7 yr old daughter. If you have no problem with that. You're part of the problem, not the solution. .03% of the population, reportedly considers themselves transgender. Why on Earth would the other 99.7% have to accommodate their bathroom choice. You got a stick in your pants, use the mens room. Remove the stick, use the womens. It's that damn simple. All I can say is, "Ouch" I am not a vitriolic person. For the record, I'm not bitter, or filled with malice. I'm just fed up, watching my tax dollars get burned up by officials. Who combined, have the common sense of a baboon. No offense to baboons. All I can say is, "Wow" I'm not a bewildered person.

  18. So you're saying. Letting the opposite sex use the different bathroom shows compassion. For that individual? What about that person showing compassion for the rest. Who use our gender specific restrooms? Why should 1 persons choice, affect everyone else's? If they want their own bathrooms, fine. Then they should pay to have them installed every where. Honestly, I couldn't care less if a chick decided to use the restroom next to me. It's happened many times at concerts, sporting events, clubs... But for a guy to walk in on my wife. And make her feel uncomfortable. Why should his level of comfort, trump hers?
  19. There's no way that rig is over the 14' 6" Clearance shown. My guess is they had the boom elevated when they hit it.
  20. I don't think it will be a "Boon" here in TX. Actually if it plays out like the libtards want it to. Everyplace will just have "RESTROOM" on their doors. No need for gender I.D.'s. I swear, everyday I wake up. Something more asinine is being pushed on us...
  21. LOL! I believe it's $450.00 for a raceway install. $350 for Trans swap. $280.00 for PS swap.
  22. I believe the $12 an upright inch was for channel letter fabrication. And the other prices are PS and Trans swap outs. John, aka VA Sign Guy. Shoot me an email. mark@alltexsigns.com I'll be happy to chat with you. We don't discuss pricing, or how we set our pricing on this board. It would probably be considered "Racketeering" or some other Fed Crime. If we all agreed on the same prices.
  23. All I can say is I'd go broke with your numbers.
  24. Awesome! It's a Scrabble sign! I'm guessing the Rocket Surgeon who installed these. Used 1 5/8" sheet rock screws, directly into an EIFS wall. So they didn't hit a damn thing. If they used silicone, it was sparingly. Oh, this pic made me laugh! I needed it today. Been one of those days.
