  1. I like their donuts. Going to get some tomorrow morning. I just wanted to post on this fine thread....
  2. Wish I could. The city kind of frowns on huge bon fires in parking lots. I did have one years ago.. They put it out for me. Pick up truck burnt up-recall never fixed...
  3. i GUESS THE SITE WAS DOWN FOR AN HOUR OR SO. cOULDN'T GET INTO IT.
  4. I take un stripped wire in all the time. I used to even recycle all my plastic. But the plastic guys went out of business. I have a 30 yard dumpster out back. It gets real expensive dumping it twice a month. That's why I try to scrap/recycle everything. What sucks the most is wood. I get 5 crates a week on average. Varied in build/construction. 1/2 my dumpster is wood.
  5. I get 15- 20 cents a pound. Not sure if that's good or not. Beats paying for the pound charge on my dumpster.
  6. It's a truck. They know their crane, cab and chassis cost. Only variable is the alum bed and boxes. Oh and travel .... I guess no vehicle dealers ever post the cost....
  7. Great looking rig! How will my guys lag screw, and weld brackets onto that bed? If I bought that truck, the bed would look like hammered shit in 6 months. That's an owner/operator truck. I'm going $215,000 as shown.
  8. 16 this morning in Dallas. Eagerly awaiting for some global warming to kick in...
  9. I agree 100%. You should be able to pick who you do business with. Now, if they came to me. I'd be looking for a trade/swap deal... That is if I lived in Oregon, and had one of those medical cards...
  10. Man, give us a ballpark number... Some of us don't want to get bugged by a salesman when we're in the dream/planning mode...
  11. Complete B.S.. No way would I be calm. You're doing the right thing by contacting the city. If it's your permit... I'd prosecute to the fullest extent you're able to. Get a hold of the "National", tell them the game is over. I'd go to the customer, and clue them in. I'd probably remove the sign. I bet your local city inspector would back you. If your name is on the permit, you didn't perform the work. Your butt could be liable. I'd set that sign right in front of their shop. Let that National deal with it. Who is "said" national company? We would all love to know. We could all avoid this in the future...
  12. Just checked out his FB site. He got the Pirate Land job! LOL!
  13. WOW! What a trip... First off, the owner came off as a D Bag. Seems like he'd be one if he was a fry cook at Mc Donalds. But I do realize TV production can make you look better or worse. It's how they want to edit the content. Secondly, I say they're full of shit on their financials. How do you not put in a loan of over 200k for start up, on your P/L summary? That being said, they say they have money in the bank. Why would his dad still be paying 1/2 of the 2K a month rent? Makes no sense.. Full service fabrication? Where? That whole place can't be 4K sq. ft. Sure they can assemble LED channel letters. So can a bunch of hacks in their garage. ASL- American Sign Legion? Shit, that made me laugh...That's one dude who has a screw loose. Check out their FB link. Scroll down...This is not how you Rappel! OSHA would have a field day with these pics! https://www.facebook.com/aslservices/photos_stream I think I've lost all faith in MC Sign Company if this is true... I have a feeling, they partner with other companies, where they spend his yearly gross. But I could be wrong... MC Sign Company truly appreciates all the hard work provided by our vendors. In an effort to recognize those vendors that go above and beyond, we’ve decided to put it to a vote amongst our company’s employees to see who they feel is the MVP of vendors. MC Sign works with more than a thousand field partners in any given year. After putting it to a vote… ASL SIGN SERVICE & REPAIR WAS VOTED AS THE WINNER! I wanted to personally thank you for your company’s hard work and dedication. It truly is appreciated and does not go unnoticed.MC Sign Company link http://aslservicesmb.com/testimonials-myrtle-beach-signs/ This all being said. I've never watched the Profit. Or tune to CSNBC. So I doubt this show will damage his rep anymore than he could do to himself.
  14. I would not buy that truck. It's a Frankenstein. Notice the headache rack about 4' off the back of the cab? The crane and the bed (12'?) came off another truck, obviously. It sure doesn't fit the new chassis. A huge waste of space. I suppose you could fab a lamp bin for that area. I'd just be worried about the outriggers (only 2) being stable enough to work out of. Plus, the basket should be fixed mounted. I'd pass.
  15. Can't you upgrade the alternator. Keep the truck running, and run the hydraulic pump off the truck motor?
  16. Wife and I may attend. She's talking about, so that's step one.
  17. Dominic....I'll be gone. Sold my beach house in May of this year. Because I could never get away to use it. So the wife and I rented a place on Padre Island for the week. On the water with a nice fishing pier / dock for my boat. It's a 9 hour haul from Dallas. It's as close to Mexico as I want to get (2 miles). I splurged and got a big place. So my brother in law, and his wife are coming. And they're bringing my 89 yr old mother in law, and her friend. So we'll have a small intimate Thanksgiving dinner at some resort or restaurant. I'll be drunk, sticking fish, or myself. Howling at the moon, and what ever else I can remember to do. They all know this trip is for my sanity. And I will not be doing the tourist thingy. Whiskey, Fish, Food, Sleep, and no work cell phone. If the business burns down. I'll find out when I get back.
  18. We're buried as well. I added one new helper for the field last week. I'm going to drop the hammer and add another one for Fabrication on Monday. Our foreseeable future is packed up tight. I'm closing my shop the entire week of Thanksgiving. We all need a break here. Minimum of 50 hrs a week for all employees for the last year. I need to get some PM done on my trucks. And, I will finally be taking a full week off for the first time in 8 years. I don't want phone calls, or deal with employees questions... I too have been turning down good jobs lately. It really sucks. I remember about 6 years ago, praying for some...
  19. Doubtful on the rebuild after my guys jack with them first... Why do people think pushing the lever as hard as you can, makes it go faster?
  20. "Fuck Em"... What can they really do? Band together and scold you? Can they come after members who are posting in real time about bad payer's? They can try, won't go anywhere... The fact of the matter is the majority of us, if not all. Run our business' with honor and pride. Which translates to paying our bills on time. Supplying the customer with the products we quoted them. Fabricating the jobs as specified. And servicing all of our customers to the best of our abilities. Are the bad payer's going to blackball all of us that have outed them? It would be redundant, since we no longer do work for them. These bad payer's are probably starting to feel the pinch. They're not getting the quality sub's they were once used to. Who knows, but if they're pissed at this site. You know this network of subs has banded together. And told them, No thanks, and No more. It's an easy fix for the bad payer's. Step up, come on this site. Apologize for mistreating their subs. Start paying deposits, and paying balances per the agreed contractual terms. This site isn't telling them how to run their business'. It's just promoting the good nationals. And pointing out the bad nationals to partner with. As far as your supply business goes. The other suppliers might want to spend more time developing or expanding their accounts. Getting the "big shops" to pay them on time. And quit worrying about another qualified competitor.
  21. I love my Bucket trucks. We can back up to a strip center or single story building. (75% of our work) And work without blocking fire lanes, or blocking traffic. Get the truck(s) that fit your need. We use our Skyhoist for what it's designed to do. It's not an ideal service truck for strip centers in Dallas.
