We have used Think Sign out of Louisville, KY and Vantage LED out of California for lower priced LED signs.

A word of warning about using Vantage LED. While their prices are usually aggressive they are not loyal to their resellers in my opinion. Vantage offers a (7) year parts and labor warranty with their displays but it is set up with a third party insurance company. We sold a Vantage display to a customer of ours but the display had a service issue after we sold it. The third party insurance company called and asked what we would charge to go fix the unit. They also called my competitor and he quoted a cheaper price so they hired him to go do the service work.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. We worked hard to obtain and service this customer and Vantage was willing to let another sign company in the door because of their poorly thought out warranty program.

When my customer told me my competitor showed up to service his sign I blew a gasket. Here's a sign company I had just defeated in a bid to win this project and then they show up to do service work on a sign I sold. My concerns to Vantage were ignored and I was told I need not sell Vantage displays anymore if I was unhappy.

I would avoid using Vantage LED until they realize what they are doing.

thats the craziest thing I have ever heard holy shit

It depends on the company and the product.

I worked in China for over a decade.  I worked in manufacturing and at one point I was the GM of Fallon Shanghai, remember Fallon?  Iin designed the factory space  for mass production of neon beer signs.  I also designed the pumping system which effectively pumped 12 units a cycle. The quality of our CHINESE made neon beer signs were superior to anything made in America. Shame about the Great Recession putting the kibosh on the company.

Regarding Chinese LED quality, again its who is making them as there are some very good LED manufacturers in China, as well as a lot of crapola.  I also worked in Jakarta Indonesia as a lighting consultant and there are a few nightclubs with interior lighting from 100% LED strip lighting.  After almost decade there has not been one failure.  So again if you're buying crapola don't complain.  The secret is finding the right Chinese LED company.

have any pictures you can share? sounds fascinating!

  4. I am planning on having my sx57 skyhoist rebuilt and installed on a new(er) chassis. I am having a hard time finding unbiased opinions on which class 7 chassis is good and reliable. I realize that DEF systems destroyed the trucking undustry reliability when it was first implemented but not sure what its like nowadays. I want a 33kgvw chassis with about 275hp.  I am interested in hearing from people on what brand/models to look at and avoid. thanks!

Brands that I am looking at are

    Freightliner

    International

    HINO

    KW

Is it legit to add a jib winch, doesn't the truck need to be manufactured that way to be an approved material handling truck? If you add one I imagine you can only guess as to whether or not anything you are lifting with it is within specifications of the boom and your mounting method. I think if you had a problem using an aftermarket jib winch you would have a big OSHA problem especially if they check your manufacturers plate and it says "Approved for Material Handling - X No"....but I'm only guessing here.

many trucks have provisions for jibs. Some people dont buy them when they get the truck new to save a few bucks. some people buy used trucks and the jib is missing. You are correct though in your scenario you described
