  1. You know your tiny transformers Sean. I remember when they were Tech 2000. I believe they supplied the original transformers that powered up the "Genesis Device" in the Star Trek movie. They were slightly bigger than a 9v battery. Not sure if they are what Brian was looking for, since he did not provide a photo.
  2. Any pictures to reference, my palm reader-advisor is out today and the crystal ball is broken.
  3. The workshop would be even more interesting if there was actual glass bending going on. Artists like Lili send their neon out to sign/neon shops. Her work is interesting but limited and more than likely not listed. Not sure how she gets around the pesky NEC (600.32). Equipment having an open circuit voltage (secondary) exceeding 1000 volts Shall Not be installed in or on dwelling occupancies. Maybe the workshop covers these concerns. Glad to see someone pushing for popularity of neon, just wish it would have been an aging Master of glass bending with some knowledge of proper processing, assembly and installation. This is where the neon industry lacked greatly and the LED folks jumped all over it. If she had a workshop on how to sell those art pieces...now that would be a class worth going to.
  4. Looks like Marcus is out to help another sign company, Precise Graphix on 6-30-15, 10pm. Apparently they are losing money at a frightful rate.
  5. Saw this on the morning news the other day. Always thought keyless entry was asking for trouble.
  6. The man had a vision. Collecting Americana. Along with deep pockets and plenty of storage space. God Bless you Vern.
  7. Great example of horrible work. Not to sound negative and give this site a negative vibe, but this is another example of visual pollution people are forced to see if improper products and installation procedures are used. Somebody was hungry for money but not knowledgeable in the business of architectural lighting. Gary our thoughts are with you, your family and neighbors for having to see that crap.
  8. Your website starts out with an established date of 1917. How do you not have established sign standards and knowledge of the industry by now? Was there a fire?
  9. The car with the sideways extension ladder. Did you get a look at the driver? Was it Moe, Curly or Larry.
  10. Got a pop up when trying to access site off my phone. Congratulations.....yes or no to winning ....
  11. Your local paper and packaging supply should have many weights, colors and sizes of rolls to fit your needs. This is really not a sign supply item.
  12. McMaster Carr has a wide selection of aluminum tubing. Many sizes and wall thicknesses. Very fast delivery.
  13. Utility trucks with the single man basket are easier to find for sale. Probably because they are plentiful but good for servicing parking lot lamps straight up above. Not as useful for sign installs though. That plastic basket won't hold too many channel letters. Also a short reach out from the side. I've used the Sponco's and the Wilkie aerial ladders, can you say cable snap catapult. They are good for quick service though. Pull up to a parking lot full of cars. Drop outrigger. Swing aerial ladder to the side over parked cars, extend and walk the ladder to the sign for quick diagnosis/repair. But at more extreme angles...not recommended, IMO. Double man basket, straight boom with crane. Ideal.
  14. Noticed there was no talk about UL or Permits to complicate the story. Qualifier? That guy is in it for the short haul.
  15. Picking up deposits almost every day for new jobs, national-shipped in type work pays in full up front, especially permit work. Not interested in financing anybody's project or playing games with a middle man. Cut loose all deadbeats. Up-tick in neon sales.
  16. If they don't cough up any money they don't even get on our schedule. The schedule is made up of good folks who know your company and value the services you provide.
  17. It's amazing how the relatively modern technology of LED's is bringing the appearance of our streets to Third world country status, but great energy savings. The designer along with the store owner should be deported.
  18. Mathew, light up another one cause you sound like a moron who likes to get under peoples skin. LED's that stand up to 150 mph winds. Are those the ones in the car spoiler? Do you hear the stupid shit being typed by your fingers? You sound like the type that probably could bend a stick after a couple of months in your friends Neon School for Food Program. But you would have to keep bringing them food to teach you what to do with the bent stick afterwards. Most neon guys are switching to electronics...did that come to you in a dream, or were you lighting it up again. I know you were lit up when the red neon was going dim in cold weather. Everyone can tell or smell that your talking out your ass. I'm sure the art-form or craft of neon will never stand up to your 150mph LED imagination.
  19. I just know it was a Caddy, crossed the median, went airborne with all 7000 lbs of boat gear and flattened sch 40 steel pipe.
  20. There's not much you can do to protect from airborne vehicles.
  21. It would be poetic justice if they got the same response from all. More realistic would be if sign shops would hold firm to a minimum like lets say 30 days, but..........like union issues there will always be Scabs. ( No, not the crust forming over a sore during healing ).
  22. Which materials shortage is most common? Tube supports?
  23. If they cannot pay within 30 days they can keep walking. Tune up your sales team if they can't find enough work to keep you busy without sucking up to these maggots who want you to front your money and then chase it. Unfortunately they find enough suckers to take the deal eventually because it makes someone feel like they got a bunch of work through their shop. Oh yeah make room for the storage of their sign crates even if the site isn't built yet.
  24. The one that pays faster is the winner.
