  1. My master machine did this once, but it cut diagnals across the whole 24" and then went back to cutting as normal. It hasn't done it agian, but I never figured it out either. sorry I'm not of much help Trent
  2. I have been doing a bunch of lettering jobs using standard issue fonts since i got my machine set up a month ago(master xy300p). I had a request for a fly fishing fly logo and was given the artwork in a bitmap. I plugged it into winpc( i know, not the best program) and vectored and simplified it so it would cut. I am cutting on black calendered vinyl. Leaving the settings of the machine the same as when I cut the lettering(600mms and 100g) the logo didn't cut all the way through the vinyl. The same setting and same vinyl cut fonts perfect. Is there something that I have missed when vectorizing the bitmap that would make it not cut as deep? I adjusted the speed to 300mms and upped the pressure to 150 with better results, but still not perfect. Some one told me that thier machine cut calendered vinyl with like 15g force not 100. I also have corel 9 if you all think I would have better luck vectorizing from there. Thanks for the thoughts. Trent Taylor
  3. So I have had my cutter for a few weeks now and everything seems to be going well. I understand that Cutters cut vector images, but was told that I could cut images saved in the eps format. If I have a logo in an eps format is there anything else that needs to be done to it to send it to my plotter? I have a request for a logo found on www.brandsoftheworld.com. thanks for the help. Trent
  4. Well I broke down and bought a xy-300p on monday. Should be here in a few days. I'll let you know how my cheap chinese machine works out. thanks for the help. Trent
  5. Thanks Frank, The krylon stick well with the vinyl? Surprising. Trent
  6. Because of the rustic nature of the displays that my logos will be going on I was wondering if vinyl case in different finishes. I am looking for something that isn't so glossy. Can you spongs paint over vinyl to possible take the glare off? Thanks for the help.
  7. In my continued quest to educate myself and having read Texasmoms comment on the Basic software that came with her ct630 my question is this, What are people using for software? Do you need one program, Corel.., to design in and another to cut with. Is the Flexistarter software better than the Artcut that Texas mom got with her CT630. I am not looking for some $4000 software as I am just cutting my basic Rising sun logo and the lettering that goes with it. Thanks for the input.
  8. Is the ct630 the same as the ct635 I see on ebay? I also heard that the XY-300p is the same at the ct but with more memory. Are you going to be able to design what you need with the artcut software or are you going to have to buy something else? Thanks for the followup report.
  9. I have been looking into purchasing a vinyl cutter for my own existing non-sign business and have looked at these two machines on the internet for a while now. Opinions on cutters seemed to go the way of a Ford vs Chevy discussion(I'm a Toyota guy). I have heard really bad things about the Panthers from some and great things from others. So first off, What the opinion on the CT635 and the XY-300P? Second, With the name brand cutters is it more a user issue with the Panther, Lynx, valuecut...? Or is there a better mid to upper entry level machine out there? I'm not going to run a cutter 8 hrs a day like a sign shop, but I don't want to get a Yugo either. Thanks for the help.
  10. Let us know how you like your Lynx when you get it. I have been researching for a while and would like to purchase a cutter in the next few weeks. I have been looking at the ct635 and master xy-300p, but have not found too many people that have these and want to give feedback good or bad.
