1. How many of us got screwed and got something back or trying to, I get a few calls a year on my end from people they screwed or trucks falling a part. Who is still out there left hanging.
2. Anyone bought a crane from Bobby king at king lifts lately. I know there was some issues when Sam marcum was involved just curious has anyone dealt with them lately.
3. Here is a place to start if you wish. http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/index.php?/search/&q=sam marcum
4. Where do you start, I read a lot on Sam Marcum, last I remember was you do not walk away from Sam, YOU RUN!!!!! But as Kgirl says, search here on the Sign Syndicate I am sure something will com up, it just may take you a while to get through the pages and pages of comments, most people were passionate about their responses.
5. I'm buying a truck from Sam Marcum. Is there something I should know?
6. looks like he is selling elliott and manitex now in NC Sam Marcum Southern Crane Trucks.
7. Yes. The best site. Also remember to stay away from Sam Marcum or Icrane or Skylift. I’m not sure what other names he has, just be careful .
8. Very well said Keith.......... I am assuming that I-Crane is no longer a viable business, Kendal wants to purchase the assets and reinvigorate the company under his guidance, using his business acumen in the sign industry. Hopefully this is correct. Also, I am assuming a Sam Marcum, who I do not know, was once affiliated with this company, took some liberties with some decent folks and then vamoosed. Further, I am assuming that the company could not get out from underneath the stigma of this Sam Marcum and now they are no longer a player. Further, I am assuming that Kendal owns these cranes, likes these cranes and wants to make a stab at a new business with a new set of specifications. I agree with Keith, lets applaud his effort rather than tear him down. If he does it right, why can't it be a success. If it fails, it's his time and his dollar. I think he has indicated that he will follow all rules of the game with certifications and safety . Let him give it a shot. This spirit of entrepreneurship is what drives this great country. Best
9. Its all explained already and who steals from the church? Are you still on a Sam Marcum rant who has absolutely nothing to do with this company? He has been gone for years! Get over that! Of course an engineer has looked at it and it has been tested extensively. If you absolutely need to talk to someone you can call Bobby King. If you need anything fixed call Shane that was the lead there. If you need numbers I have them.
10. This site has saved many peoples lives by helping me put I-crane and Skylift, Sam Marcum out of business. Many people that don't even know it owe Erik and this site, the sign association of Canada saves me 0.03 cents per liter on gas, woo hoo Plus my advertising here gets me work from across the US
11. Be very careful was Skylift, Sam Marcum may still be ripping you off.
12. I too would like to know if it was built by the new I-Crane or Scam Marcum?
13. If you are dealing with Scam Marcum, you better run before you give him any money. You will be buying yourself years of anguish and torment for starters. it will probably bankrupt you. That is if you survive the catistrophic failer of the truck that you bought. He is the biggest con artist and bullshitter that you will ever meet. ("Brother, have you accepted Jesus in your heart") He likes to start off with that one when hes sucking someone in. I could tell you first hand because I got tied up with him and his trucks for ten years. I'm finally free of him, thanks to a company take over by I-crane and theire new awsome owner Earnest Hillard.
14. about to buy a truck from Sam Marcum, anybody can share their experience?
15. avoid the following words in your purchase Sam Marcum I-crane Skylift
16. Marcum...... that sounds familiar!

20. This whole discussion is kind of filled with negativity and judgements that some folks have no right to say because they don't even know the company or people that work there. With that said I just wanted to post this for one reason and that is set record straight with first hand knowledge as I have dealt with this company. I have asked them to set record straight but they won't as they say the proof is in pudding. They know their products will speak for themselves and that the way to get good comments is to continually improve so thats what they're doing instead of defending the past. They just want to build good units. They take full responsibility of THEIR actions. I know people that have had issues with Elliott manitex versalift etc. If anybody made one truck that suited everyone then we all would have one. I posted on other thread also to the same effect. Sign works.....you had a terrible unit I saw it. No reflection on these people. You have to understand what happened....Sam got these guys swindled into a deal that left them holding the bag. Even trucks they will say they built were mearly assembled by icrane based on a design they thought was good iherited from prior company. This has only been 10 months ago. They finished many trucks that people had been ripped off on and when the truck had issues they took the heat for it, they honored warranties and fixed trucks that they didnt get paid a dime for in the first place So what would you do? Probably same thing they did...redesign the unit....build the unit, test the unit, start establishing dealers, and get good trucks out in market. Nobody does that unless they intend on putting good trucks on market. Why would you? You would never make money putting crappy trucks on market. As far as Sam marcum he is in no shape or form involved in this business. He stole the web design started signcrane or something like that. He was originally partnered with these guys who fired him after 3 months when they knew what he had done and lied about in past. So he did own a minority stake in Icrane and you can't just fire a partner from day to day operations and take his ownership too. There's a legal process to go through to remove his ownership so again Sam is in no way involved in operation and as a matter of fact they REALLY dislike you even mentioning his name. He cost some poor souls a ton of money and cost the new owner of IC more than anyone. Those that have had problems under the new ownership I bet they have done more than any other company would to fix a truck. They have picked up trucks on site, flown to the truck to fix it, overnighted parts at no charge, sent mechanics to truck etc. In my opinion they have went above and beyond what they were responsible for and much farther than any other company in industry. Now they are making really good units and I'm sure they will have some issues with a new designs but they have done a ton in 7 months since Sam has been gone. Just look at their new IC-50 and then you can judge all you want. If you don't like it don't buy but don't judge these guys on past performance.
21. Kendal I saw this truck before it came to you. It was really nice. I know the company and was very familiar with sam marcum. I know that those guys were very intent on making you a great truck because you had some faith in the new folks running company. I think they are aware that the trucks were not perfect but I can tell you first hand that those guys pour their heart and soul not to mention plenty of money to turn that company around. Is it perfect....I'm sure it isn't perfect but saw their new truck they put in Atlantic city show about a month ago. They again have made some great strides. Truck is beautiful and saw testing video. They were picking up 2500lbs at 40 degrees and swung all the way around truck boom fully extended. It was rated to do 900 lbs at above stated angle and boom length with unbelievable stability. Also keep in mind this was a 50 foot truck with two stages so different then yours a bit but same idea of 550 chassis with load line and jib. Took a ton of weight off end of boom end hung the basket and mounted winch on top of boom placing the winch pulley at the end of boom giving you full reach with load line. I think it's going to be a big hit in market and I know they have appreciated your support and faith in their abilities. Think they delivered a good truck to you and continue to improve drastically with each truck. I also know their truck is modeled on software and know new design is going through structural analysis. Regardless they are good people with good intentions and will not tell you that they are perfect. They in my experience readily admit fault when it is their fault. Bet they sale a bunch of them. So purpose of this post was to let you know that you shouldn't buy into the negative comments. Your truck I saw was very nice and very well priced. Little odds and ends go wrong with all equipment. Did you make a good decision to buy the trucks....I vote yes but the only person that can judge that is you. You may want another one once you see the 50 footer. Also these guys make these strides very quickly...give them 6 months and I'll bet they can compete with anyone in business if they're not there already.
22. Hey Signworks, why dont you back off the insults, you dont even know me. I joined this to try to have some intelegent conversations regarding Skylift, I-crane, and all that. Maybe even trade some war stories about Marcum. I'm a damn good installer, I'm very good at what I do. I've had to be, working with the garbage trucks that I've bought from Scam. I have educated myself over the years on what is right and not right in regards to how a crane should be built and I know a lot about them, and I've dealt with that guy a lot longer than you. Why dont you embrace the opportunity to speak to someone who might know a thing or two about what you have gone thru and not be so critical and quick to judge. I wouldnt mind posting some photos of installs that I have done or my new truck and I will if you want to offer something usefull about them, but I feel you just want to have something to slam and spew insults about so I'm not going to untill I feel like you can and want to have a respectful conversation. The new Owners name is Earnest Hillard. He owned the steel manufacturing facility that Marcum was using to stamp out his boom sections, outriggers and basically all the hardware of the crane. When Scam got in to him for a 1/4 million dollars and wasnt paying the bills. Earnest "legally" took over his entire business. From what I understand Sam, his wife and his daughter were escorted off the property by the police. You can call them and they will tell you all about how that went down. That is how I-crane came to be. This guy has the money and the backing to do what he's doing. I wouldnt say it if it wasnt true but he is sparing no expence in making this a nice unit. He has brought in "real engineers" and experienced crane builders and yes, probably pulled down a few Elliots to see how a crane should work. Hell his shop foreman was a former OSHA inspector if that tells you anything. When my truck was ready. I was picked up in a private plane 5 minutes from my house, flown down to there facility, spent 2 days going over everything with me and allowing me to oversee the details and custom work that I wanted done. Basically treated like a VIP for 3 days before handing over the truck.
23. I've recently purchased an I Crane unit on a 2010 F-750. I am in agreement with Kendal. This crane is fantastic and nothing close to the old skylift units being built by the infamous "Scam Marcum". This company went thru a corporate takeover, Marcum is gone and the new owner has spared no expense in revamping this unit from the ground up. They have gutted all the crap that was being used under the Marcum regime and replaced damn near everything with high quality, industry proven components. You can contact their sales group to go over all the changes but to name a few, High dollar bronze skid plates in the boom sections that you won't find on an Elliot or a Manitex makes this unit feel like its gliding effortlessly as it extends and retracts. A high tech computerized remote system that is fully integrated with the industry proven bufert system hydraulic controls. This truck can be operated at the base, in the basket or remotely. I have owned two skylift units in the past and nobody has been taken by Marcum more than myself so I can understand Signworks anger and frustration because I've been thru it for the last 10 years and I feel your pain., but I think you are directing it towards the wrong people. These guys taking over this company has been the best thing that has ever happened to my business. I think your anger is keeping you from making a fair unbiased opinion of the new unit. It is totally unfair to judge something when you don't have first hand knowledge of it. It is really unfair to the owner who has spent a few million dollars revamping this unit and to the guys in the shop who are very proud of what they are building and rightfully should be. Also, I wanted to touch on the topic of the bucket not being accesible in the stowed position and that you have to put it on the ground to get in it. I never understood building an elaborate scaffold over the cab that adds a couple thousand pounds to your front axle weight just to get in the bucket?. I personally like the fact of putting the bucket on the ground and getting in. its very simple and only takes seconds to do. Ive worked on a Elliott and the only time its used is when you set up for a job and when you put it away. You are not going to put your boom back in stow position everytime you need to come down. As far as not having a ladder to get up on the bed. That is a standard feature on the new truck. However, I opted to put a heavy duty underbody bin in its place and just open it and use it as a step to get on the bed. I'm not so old and cracked up that I needed to waste valuable space for a ladder. These guys will build and customize any feature on the bed that you want so that really isn't an issue. I'll say this to anybody who is in the market for a Sign Crane, that you really owe it to your self to consider the new I-crane. Check it out for your self and form your own opinion. Don't form your opinion of this new unit on the opinion of someone who is bitter from being burned by the industries #1 con man. I would put this truck up against any other truck in the industry. I love it and its beautiful.
24. Step bumper was added to my trucks as well as relocating the hydraulic tank for more bins. As far as the basket access being dangerous are you kidding me? I hope when you are working on a sign you would have cones out or enough room to set your boom down somewhere. The strobe light will blind the operator? Really? These are the meaningless things you are bitching about? Everything you complained about is as simple as telling them where you would like everything to be located as they will put it wherever you like. That is the advantage of actually dealing with the factory and not a dealer. I'll do my best to make sure there is a crane at the next show. I can't speak for the owner but I am only 45 minutes from the Orlando show. Worst case, I'll drive it over there. And once again for all of you who are not paying attention " Sam Marcum is no longer there or has anything to do with I-CRANE!!!" as stated in my first post! Thanks for paying attention. Good Talk!
25. Paul that's not a handle, it is so his other i-crane can pick it up when its on its side. That's the new and improved "scam marcum" gave him 2 trucks.
