  5. Here's a short video demonstration we finally got around to uploading on Youtube. A lot of people still don't know what Channel Bond is and how they can greatly benefit from it's use in the shop and in sign applications, I know when I first heard of it which was not that long ago I had no idea what it is, and what it could do. Makrolon / Sheffield Plastics highly recommends using Channel Bond to fabricate channel letter faces with their polycarbonate! So, here's a small video we did on that. Hope it's of some use and answers some questions Channel Bond a one part system that can be used in place of Lords 7550 Two-Part Urethane Adhesive, Lords 7556 Urethane Adhesive Two-Part Urethane Adhesive, Weld-On / SCIGRIP 58, Weld-On / SCIGRIP 55 The Sign Syndicate is now shipping Channel Bond and Resin Bond through FedEx Ground, a info thread on Channel Bond can be found here http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6064-channel-bond-now-shipping For orders you can call us at (858) 880-1400 or email us at orders@thesignsyndicate.com

  7. Just to let everyone know we are now shipping Channel Bond and Resin Bond. You can also order directly from our store (Mainland US ONLY) HERE If you haven't ever used Channel Bond you are truly missing out. Channel Bond is a one part system that's used to bond polycarbonate to polycarbonate, especially polycarbonate to Plasco Trim Cap. Many people shy away from using polycarbonate as channel letter sign faces because they have had issues or problems bonding trim cap to polycarbonate or have heard there are issues from the rumorville. Makrolon / Sheffield Plastics highly recommends using Channel Bond to fabricate channel letter faces with their polycarbonate! Well I can tell you most of the issues people have had in the past with either by their own experience, or from heard from rumorville of other shop experiences in short.....Is simply not true. You can bond polycarbonate to trim cap but you have to do it right, and give it time. Most of the time people who have failed to bond the two materials did so because they bonded the materials incorrectly!!! Most of the time they simply applied the adhesive on top where the two materials are meeting, and NOT where the two surface faces actually touch each other. When shops don't do it correctly and have a failure it can lead to a misnomer that it cannot be done. The best part about Channel Bond is it's a one part system, I said a 1 part system!!! No need to go out and purchase a special gun that combines a two part system, NO need to buy nozzle tips, NO need to throw away good half spent cartridges because it's already been activated. With Channel Bond you just use Hypo Needle applicator and pour what you don't use back in the container, simple!!! No wasting!!! We are stocking Channel Bond in Quarts and Gallons, and here is a small job where we showed some uses of Channel Bond LINK Channel Bond a one part system that can be used in place of Lords 7550 Two-Part Urethane Adhesive, Lords 7556 Urethane Adhesive Two-Part Urethane Adhesive, Weld-On / SCIGRIP 58, Weld-On / SCIGRIP 55 For any order or inquiry, or for a full product and price list you can call us at (858) 880-1400 or email us at orders@thesignsyndicate.com You can also order directly from our store HERE
  8. Have to do a plug because I'm impressed with the results. I've never used Channel Bond I've only heard the name in the past and when I heard the name I thought it was a metal adhesive of some sort. So I did a quick demo/sample/test of bonding Poly-carb to Poly carb in a small 90 degree angle, and I bonded PLASCO trim cap to polycarb in a letter "L". I let it cure overnight and damn it's a strong bond. I can't bend the stuff to break the bond, I'm probably going to have to have a hammer or do something very violent to break it. From what I understand Channel Bond is the equivalent of Weld-On 55 or 56 which is a two part system, where you need to buy the gun, the tips, the two small cartridges one of part A and B, and once you use it or activate it that's it, this seems costly. With Channel Bond it's a one part system, so you just pour it back if and when you're done, what I have is a huge Quart that will go a long way. Pretty Nice! What I've discovered is Channel Bond is not a West Coast Product, in fact not many of heard of it very few have. Many though it was a metal bond too, same as I, my guess is it's because Weld-On and others are West Coast because of factory locations. I'm sure all products and 1 or 2 part systems have their pro's and con's but...I'm impressed. So anyway, I just thought I'd post my thoughts of it.
  9. SHOPPING CART LINK DAILY DELIVERY FOR SAN DIEGO 3/4" ($47.75) & 1" ($55.75) + Shipping Colors are below * Black * White * Gold * Silver (Brushed Silver Appearance) * Bronze * Duranotic Bronze * Orange * Red ( 3M Poppy Red 3630-143 | Pantone 179 C ) * Blue ( 3M Intense Blue 3630-127 | Pantone 300 C ) * Dark Blue (Avery Dark Blue 8500-007) * Yellow ( 3M Sunflower 3630-25 | Pantone 124 C ) * Green ( Oracal Emerald Green 8800-087 | Pantone 348 C ) Some notes I'd like to add about this product. Some may have used this product in the past and some may have never had a chance. This product disappeared from suppliers right after 9/11 from what I understand there were Customs issues that made it too costly to bring in. IF you remember this product from long ago, you will be glad it's back (just like the reaction I've gotten to all who have purchased from me). IF you have never used it, your fabricators will love you for using it, it's MUCH MUCH easier to work with and notch, you won't get those splits you sometimes get on corners. My other understanding is that this product was mainly distributed on the west coast, so not many on the east coast have ever tried it. My advice is try it, believe me YOU will LOVE it! Before 9/11 I used PLASCO and the Silvatrim Trimcaps. I still have signs up 16+ years and this trim cap is still up, it's very durable. PLASCO Trim for Polycarbonate Channel Letter Faces Plasco is an excellent channel letter trim cap to be used to fabricated polycarbonate / Lexan channel letter faces. We also stock Channel Bond, the 1 part system which makes it easy for bonding Plasco Trim to Polycarbonate. You can also find Channel Bond here PLASCO VS JEWELITE In another thread I was asking why anyone east of Colorado "WHY" they mainly buy 1" Jewlite and not 3/4" Jewelite for 24" Channel Letters and smaller. The reason seems to be is that when you use 1" Jewelite with a standard 3/16" channel letter face the 1" Jewelite gives you more clearance because the arrow extrusion protrudes more than 1/4" from the face giving you less mechanical fastening room. Make sense but 1" is very tough to notch, bend and get in small letter centers too because of that arrow extrusion. I was always use to Plasco Trim Cap in my years of the sign industry, NOT Jewelite because on the West Coast Plasco was stocked more than Jewelite before 9/11. So after this "clearance" point was brought up I did some quick measuring because I had a east coast client buy Plasco 1" to match up with his regular use of 1" Jewelite. Then shortly after receiving his order with 3/4" samples he soon after starting ordering 3/4". I asked him why the change in smaller trim. He said the change was because the 3/4" Plasco trim gave him the same fastening clearance that he got buying 1" Jewelite. I've attached some images to show you that you can use 3/4" Plasco Trim Cap that will give you the same clearance as 1" Jewelite IF clearance is important to you. Plasco vs. Jewelite - Here we display the channel letter baseline along with the clearance you get using 3/4" & 1" Plasco / Jewelite Trim Caps 1" Jewelite clearance 1" Plasco - More mechanical clearance than 1" Jewelite 3/4" Plasco - Just about the same mechanical clearance as using 1" Jewelite 3/4" Jewelite - Less mechanical clearance than 3/4" Plasco 1" Jewelite - Arrow extrusion protrusion more than 1/4" past the channel letter face. http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/miscstuff/adverts/examples/Plasco Trim Cap.JPG You can contact me by email for orders / inquiries at orders@thesignsyndicate.com or (858) 880-1400 or purchase from out online Shopping Cart
