Question for the brain trust on Glass Peanut Housings

I'm finally getting around to building a "real" sign for my business. After 8 years here, it's about time. Due to city F-ing regs. I can't project more than 18" from the fascia. I'm wanting to use housings on the border "Wings". But my top and bottom pans are only going to be 2" deep. So I can't put them on the face of the pan. I'll have to place them facing up, on the next pans, and main cabinet. I figure with the glass housing caps, that should fly? Design below

Don't think that's how their "supposed" to be used but you SHOULD be using porcelain 200 P's :P Their only 2.5" deep! Sometimes you do what you have to do because it's all you have to work with.

200 housings were typically called peanut housings. If I recall.

I am eeeing all housings going up and down into pans? My thougjt, saving alot of service...put the housings on the back panels, including the 2in deep one. Either cheat onbthe design and make it a bit deeper...OR on that back panel use a heckel bushing, masters straight boot, and masters sleeving going thru heckel bushing. Totally UL, safe, and uding boots on the peanuts....very unlikely to short out.

The "peanuts" are the mini sized version of the 200's. Their about 1 to 1.5" shorter in length depending on the MFG

Thats the difference between young pups in the trade and old farts. Youngsters change the definition. Do a google for glass peanut housings and up will pop westrim 200 peanut housings, etc.

You are talking about the tc50? And then some salesman decided to steal the "peanut" part. Those havent been out that long....less than 100 years? Joke.

Hey awesome, the sign syndicate shopping cart pops up when you search google for glass peanut housing!

Westrim always used two product codes, 200 and 200P, P being the shorter housing and P for Peanut?

Yes I was referring the peanut as to what we stock the TC50, which are smaller housing than the 200P

I myself have always liked the porcelain housings over the glass, their a lot stronger and less likely to crack. Some of these new 200 glass housings made available are nearly paper thin and their busting in the field. I love housings over everything else and a much much cleaner finished look. But then again I don't have the extreme weather conditions of snow / moisture that some of ya'll have.

Porcelain is nice but they are white. So they tend to stand out more than clear glass. Yup, they seem to have gotten thinner over the years.

Yes, the p was for the peanut part. The longer ones were referenced as 200 housings so as to not be confused with the peanut housings. And then they came out with the tc50 version.

They should have have black porcelain too. That was a complaint to some with the white but even though they are white and you use with a colored silicone cap which can conceal some of that if the background does not go with it but I think it gives is some character. JMO

paint will stick to the porcelain better than the glass. You can mount them in any orientation, they have drain holes. If you mount them horizontal make sure the drain holes are facing the rite direction.

GOOD things happen for a reason......

Faces are routing now! I hope it pushes my Beer Brewery across the street off high center. And they buy a sign from me. On the letter neon. Not sure if it will be Bromo or White. My neon guy is making me some samples. To see how well it will look on the blue background. Then Bromo and White border. I really wanted to build a Marquee type. Like I did for a customer. But no place to do on my building.
