  1. Hey guys! I am looking for a new company to order flex faces from. The company we currently use only warranties them for a year. If we print any kind of colored background they are fading really bad within months. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. TIA

  2. I just wanted to give a shout out to the Sign Syndicate that 1 Source Sign Company is actively looking for Channel Letter, Logo Box, & Cabinet Manufacturing opportunities. Most Channel Letters leave our shop in two weeks or less from time of order. Simply looking for an opportunity to quote. www.1sourcesign.com

I am not affiliated with 1 source but I must say they do an excellent job on fabrication of pan formed faces. We have ordered several times from this company and were very pleased with their products. The staff is very nice there as well.

  3. We have been doing some subcontracting with Nationwide Sign Service and Repair in last couple of months and I have to say they have been great to us. Pay was almost 60 days first time, he said it was due to the hurricane, but the 2nd time was 45 days pay. In which most companies are 60 day pay. Frank and the staff there was really nice to us.

  4. Mike. Look at SSSigns.com in Kentucky. 1 800 523-1958 They sell lots of them, exactly what you have in the photo.

Yes, I was getting ready to say the same...Garland at S&S is great guy to do business with!...

Also, you could try Sams club, but the quality probably won't be as good as S&S signs.

Ooops, I just noticed this was posted back in 2011, oh well, someone else may need to know.

  6. If you only knew this guy, if you told him that he would be like "ah make me the XXX sign, I dont care what they say"....This customer owns several chains of different restaurants and hotels...we have done all of his, so far, and they are still standing and without any questions. I feel like that the customer is the one owns, bought and paid for the hotel, they are having to pay in order just to carry the name of the franchise, and as long as they are following/meeting the branding and identity of the franchise, than they should be able to chose whomever they wish to fabricate or install their signs, but that is just my personal opinion. I know why they do that, the "approved vendors" are double what another company would charge, as we encountered that with another franchise company we fabricated for him....we just kinda leave that up to him and the corporate offices. He is type of guy that don't always follow the rules...hey, we just give the customer what they want...I agree with you about the approved vendors, but if he calls says he wants us to do it, than we do it, but we do follow the PMS codes and standards for those franchises.....The pylon sign is already there, we aren't having to fabricate anything but the faces, it was a previous Holiday Inn....as long as we get paid, he can deal with corporate on his end....I think he has a packet with all this information in it, or should have....just thought I would ask if anyone may know what the PMS codes were....He has another Quality Inn we done for him before, I believe I found the branding and identity packet on the internet, but now it is no longer available and its been yrs ago, I would have to go to storage files to find it, but was hoping not to have to do that....thanks again for the responses...

  7. get manager to get specs from head office

Yeah, that is what I have done in the past, call corporate get them to send the branding and identity signage packet it to me...but some corporate companies act as if they "ONLY" want certain sign companies to do their franchise signs...well, this customer "ONLY" wants us to do his, so yeah...I think that I'm going to have to ask the customer to call on this one and get the PMS colors, specs, etc....thanks again

  8. I think it should be a separate line item on your proposal and you should charge for it whether you are awarded the job or not. I don't think most customers expect you to give your work away. If they do, they're probably not the kind you want to deal with anyway.

I would bet they had a few other sign companies go out and survey the same sign and awarded it to the lowest bidder. Specifying up front that you will require payment for surveys may eliminate those that are simply sending sign companies out to start a bidding war.

Thank you, you are exactly correct...I appreciate the feedback and was just curious how other sign companies are making sure they are getting paid for surveys...

    Thanks again,

PS: Any other companies feel free to reply, would like to hear from you

  9. Hello, I'm just curious how I can charge, or write on my proposals that there will be a charge for site survey when bidding on a job if not awarded the job. Normally, I add that price in with the bid/proposals, and most of the time we are awarded the job, or if not awarded it's usually something small that we don't worry too much about....Long story short, back in March I was called out to do a survey and place a bid that was 1hr each direction travel, and was onsite 1hr with the truck, taking measurements, etc, for the building and pylon sign that was damaged by a tornado....It was going to be a fairly big job and I met with the guy again and was awarded the job thru a contractor, not the owner himself.....I was told we were awarded the Job..Sent in all the vendor pkts, etc, paperwork, etc....I call back today, as I haven't heard back from them in a while and was told that the job was given to another person while "he" was on vacation and the company decided to go a different route with the job...Now, I am going to be sending him a bill for the 3hrs survey, and he was ok with compensating me, but only after I had asked. I was wanting to know if anyone else has encountered this??? If so, would it be possible to "put in the fine print" on the bottom of my job bid/proposals that there will be charges that apply for site survey if not awarded the job??? If so, could someone please help me with the "wording" of how I would say this....Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Teresa

  10. Does anyone know who has or does the "Lee's famous Recipe" signage??? I know that "complete signs" is one company, Ive sent them an email but I haven't received a response back yet, but is there others??? Same here, we've been using flexi many years too and didn't know this either...you can find out practically anything on the internet...its amazing how you can pretty much trouble shoot your own equipment anymore by looking on the internet...anything from working on your car to sign equipment. Who needs customer service anymore? lol....and its free, most of the time. Glad I could be of help to you!
