  1. I like this note on thier site...

LEGAL NOTICE; "Manchel Wholesale Sign Builder" and all associated companies and vendors reserve(s) the right to decline to perform ANY work beyond money paid on contract with "Manchel Wholesale Sign Builder" or said farm out company,or vendor for ANY reason

    :hump9:

  2. As an association supporter I just found this a dated piece of information...If people don't think shops have been using their scraps for the last 50 years or so they are nuts...Most shops are lean by nature as most are so small lean practices are automatic. On large production floors this can make huge differences though and again, most are already on the wagon from many years back. I saw a lot of things that most shops have been doing for years. This should have been run about five years ago if not ten. Acorn just cleaned up the shop and put a new face on it from what I can see.

It was a good piece if you don't know the industry that well, seemed fluffy to me...I will finally say good for Acorn that this is working for them and I hope they continue to support the ISA.

  3. Damn, just received a letter from ISA stating that the crane cert. program in Indiana has been cancelled, along with several others. So it looks like we will have to travel quite far to attend another class. The price really jumped up also. Good thing we can transfer our fees to another site. I don't understand what everyone is waiting on with this? I can see nationals requiring certification way before the 2014 date for insurance reasons.

And prices are going to keep going up, sooner is better on this one than later...

  4. I know it's not my place to demand since I'm not a member of any Sign Association and never will be.

It's too bad you feel this way. I have been in and out of multiple sign associations, without holding any board positions, for many years and you are exactly the type of person that needs to be involved. I get more out of the UL and similar type discussion sessions, than caring about where the next golf outing is going to be for sure. With that in mind I agree with previous posts about getting out of it what you put in...bag em all if you want but it's hard to change the system from outside while tossing rocks at a lot of people who have also dedicated their lives to this industry.

You’re a strong and intelligent voice and the industry needs you even if you do decide to do it from the sidelines or this site. BTW this is your own little sign association anyway, don't you think?

I'm terrible at golf probably, I've never played or even stepped on a golf course

You're the perfect Association golfer then!!!

    Keep stiring the drink...

  6. If I'm not mistaken, the foundatiuon was set up to lobby congress on first amendment issues and other government issues that make it difficult for sign shops to operate around bogus codes and laws. They may be the good ole boys but I know they have had some big legal wins for our industry.

  7. Anyone out there do any lot light retrofitting yet? Product? Cost vs. MV ETC.

I aint sayin I'm just sayin...Ask lots of questions about DOT regulations and requirements from whomever you choose to buy from...With lumen depreciation the units may fall out of compliance fast...Lots of discussion going on over at linked in about this as well, check in to the LED group discussions to educate yourself a little bit.

  8. It's all my fault. I hacked into several of the hotel wifis and forwarded a whole whack of porn domains to your site. Anyone who goes on craigslist looking for an escort in Orlando will be forwarded here as well.

    :lol_hitting:

  9. We love our BK franchisees, and always install as much of whatever as they want. Our local franchise owner even sticks up for us with the national sign companies - he doesn't pay them until we get paid. This upgrade seems pretty severe for the economic times for the franchise owners - how many are going to fold if they can't get this done?

That's part of the plan...purge under performing sites...

  10. Also - it's been a while since I looked - but I don't think ilight's patents delve to far into the Sloan/TetraBT territory where the LEDs are in hollow, colored tubes. They have more to do with embedding directly into materials that both encapsulate and diffuse at the same time.

This is what I was curious about and I see your point. You just never know anymore how patent law is going to evolve in LEDs. Sooooooooo many people have LED patents on questionable things, it will make for entrtaining viewing from the balcony for sure. Thanks for the chime in Marko.
