  1. in some places (India, Las Vegas, etc) extra wire is sometimes a problem - especially when theives are ripping off any wire they can find to recycle it for money for drugs!

I heard the most ridiculuos story the other day - a guy ripped the LED modules out of a sign to take the wire to be recycled...I thought - why not resell the LED modules!!!

    no that's a dumb criminal!!!!

  2. I can't speak for Sloan, but the reason WE do this is because it's better to have more wire than not enough. Imagine the modules you're putting into a letter have short little 2" or 3" wires. This is great if your letters are all I's or L's, but what about when you have to do an H, X or T? The fact is you often need to be able to double-back, round a corner, jump over to start a parallel stroke that is 4" away (etc) and wires that are too short make this difficult. If you can't stretch out a single run properly, then you should at least enough wire to cut and splice with enough slack - your knuckles and fingernails will appreciate this - especially if you're up in a bucket truck on a cold day. Say you buy modules on a reel and need to mix and match some quantity into a letter - have you ever tried connecting 2 modules that each had a 1" lead on them, yet needed to be 3" apart?

In short, the extra 3 cents in wire should not be something that an LED supplier should skimp on. I know it's sometimes difficult tucking the wires into really small letters, but the added wire does help more than it hurts.

that's right that extra wire is nice sometimes

  3. I agree that it had to be the bolts.

Actually, the bolts have been sent out to a lab for metallurgical testing. It is the manufacturers responsibility to ensure his suppliers deliver the product as specified. If I isntall a defective transformer I am the one responsible to the customer and in their eyes and my wallet no one else.

When someone purchases a crane they expect to get a certain number of years of trouble free operation. They certainly would never purchase a crane with the problems we have had with Skyhoists offerings in the last 5 years or so.

I'll stick with my good ole' radocy 85'

  4. All of that warm and fuzzy stuff is fine if it stays in one thread, I just won't waste my time reading that one, but I still stick by my stand people get on here to learn and share SIGN ideas not find places to eat in Vegas (I guessing there is a web site just for that - I wonder if they talk about NEON on there hmmmmm). and why boot people that are not posting? We are not sharing top secret double not spy info on here are we?

  5. We have older Rolands and from what I see they are just that, old! Still have them, I'm sure they weren't cheap. You won't find a hand or power tool in any of the guys tool bins, they'll laugh at you and shoot you down a ladder :P

    HUH?

  6. when that $1000.00 junk craps out after a month and you can't get it repaired you will have to spend another 1000 for another piece of junk. Just spend the 2000 first and eliminate the hassle. You wanted the opinion of people who have "been there done that" so take advantage of our mistakes.

  7. The last 3 jobs we have received from AD TECH were all bad! 2 Were damaged but the crates were in perfect condition, and one channel sign had the logo letter backwards. When we contact them we get the run around and then get the replacement in about 3 weeks. Maybe I'm just have shitty luck, so tell me if you have had any of the same

Update - Now they say they are going to do nothing about it, that we must have damaged them. Yea we always damage signs so we can't meet our customers deadlines, we make so much more money that way!

We will never buy anything from them again

  9. ahh doom and gloom again - I may be wrong but wasn't neon on the way out with the advent of plastic faces?

NASCAR still uses carbs - are they classic cars? or is it that sometimes the old tried and true is better than belles a whistles

  10. I'm looking for any or all neon shop equipment. If you have or know someone who has any shop equipment to sell please contact me at ThunderBoltNeon@hotmail.com with info and price.

Slightly used to workhorse equipment is fine but please nothing held together by sawdust, chewed gum, chicken wire and electrical tape.......in other words....NO MACGYVER EQUIPMENT PLEASE!

  11. We are staying busy here. But we have a full time sales person. The led stuff I have ran across has been pretty poorly lit up. Some of the businesses have had major issues with reliability especially with led border lighting.

    So who knows
