  1. Keith, you have come a long way since that old skyhook I sold you! Glad to hear you are growing. Have you looked into a dump trailer? This way you can send the crane and digging crew in one truck. We bought a bobcat/auger a few years ago and honeslty it was a huge waist of money. Once you hit a rock it's back to shovels. Mini excavators are really sweet but I heard the insurance is huge. I get more use out of my electric jack hammer than anything else.

  2. I don't send 2 men unless the job warrants a helper or requires 2 lead guys. We get $95hr 1 man 60' elliot ($160 for 2 men) and $85hr 1 man 35' Bucket ($150 for 2 men) Customers large or small never like to pay for 2 guys doing a 1 man job. There is always the case when you have a quick install on same day as a big one, so you have eat the second man's labor on the first call and hope the guys get it done really quick. We run a 2hr miniumum if the service call gets done on the first trip, otherwise I bill at least 1.5hrs per trip regradless of how little time he was onsite. After reading Paul's response I am going to try 2hr minimum on every call, every trip. More often than not I am billing 12-14hrs for a day for a tech working 9- That's what pays the bills a keeps the $150,000 crane trucks running.

  3. We did a removal from them in April and have yet to be paid. They said they were not paying due to a "compliance issue". I sent the required information to them (again) end of last month and have yet to receive a call back on when we will get paid. I would be leery of doing anything too large with them.

Get paid yet? They want me to work for them.

  4. Eric, whats your beef with chemcast GP? I was a tried and true Acrylite SG customer for years but have switched to the less expensive Chemcast GP for basic faces (I still use SG on any channel cabinets). I haven't had any issues yet with the chemcast but would would like to know what problems you have had. I have 4 sheets here ready to go on a job-

  5. Back when my dad started our shop in 1974 he was getting $475 to do 2 sides of a van for an electrical contractor. Belive it or not, we still have the account, the logo never changed, we have been doing it in vinyl since the mid-80's and guess what- I am still getting $475! My dad put $450 in his pocket for a days work and a thimble full of paint. Man I wish I was doing this back then. The Gerber 4B changed the business forever, and the new printes have only made it worse.

justin, how is the elliot treating you?

The elliot is OK- but very expensive to keep up. I have about $25,000 in repairs on the dam thing- How is my old skyhook? I miss being 64' up on a round tube!
