  1. Thanks, Eric.

Actually, I was sicker than a dog. Last Wednesday night it started with a tickle in my throat. Thusday morning I was to sick to go to work, so I spent the next two days in bed with the flu. Not a very pleasant way to spend ones birthday. But I have recovered, and I'm back to work and ready to go.

I like the new look of the forum. Will there be any scrolling banners at the bottom of the page, like before?

    Mike.

  2. That looks nice and clean, what camera did you use?

LiteGirl, sorry I haven't replied to your query until now. After I posted the pictures of our sign, I had to leave on a sales trip, for three days. So, to answer your question, the camera I used is a small Canon Power Shot, SD 1000. Nothing fancy, but takes decent pictures.

    Mike.

  3. OK, guys and gals, here are some pictures of our sign. This sign is 8' x 8' x 30" deep. It is fabricated out of our Wide Fab Frame. The faces are Cooley flexible face material. It is illuminated with two Halophane lamps. The center pole is covered with a diamond shaped baffle, to distribute the light evenly. I have included a picture of the inside of the sign and a picture of the lamps laid out for service. Not to fancy, but does the job just fine.

  4. Didn't really want to get too detailed in my discription, but if it's apples to apples, this is what Accutrack offers:

    Accutrack® Suite consists of:

    - Estimating and Engineering

    - Proposal and Order Writing

    - Production Schedule Journal

    - Job Costing and Job Tracking

    - Production Management Reports

    Accutrack® Accounting Link includes:

    - Time Matrix® time-clock software

    - Auto calculation of T&M invoices

    - Payroll & inventory automation

    - Bar coded/scanned work orders

Accutrack is a fully integrated suite of software powered by the most accurate, comprehensive and flexible estimating system ever created for the full service electrical sign manufacturer. Choose between one or more modules to provide accurate estimates, engineer foundations, create sales proposals, track job costs, monitor production, and more - all developed specifically for the sign industry.

So, if it's apples to apples.............just so we're clear.

    Mike.

  5. David, as an estimator for ABC Sign Products, I'm probably a little biased. But once you learn this estimating program, you can estimate anything from the smallest single face cabinet to the largest pylon sign, with relative ease. We also have an engineering module that you can add to the estimating software or use it as a stand alone item. It can calculate pipe sizes through the sign, from the ground up, anchor bolt base plates, circle, square and rect. foundations. It's a great item for estimators. If you have any questions at all, please give me a call and if I can't answer them I will put you in touch with someone who can.

    Regards,

    Mike

  6. OK, Heres a dumb question that I should know. What is the differnce between marker and bullseye. I am realtively new and have only worked with and replaced kulka lamp holders. The kind that after punching the D hole you just snap them in. I have worked with some tombstone style as well.

BTW thanks for the response Eric. Was just reading a little about Blair Companies in one of the latest mags during a morning "office" visit.

I believe the marker socket replaces the tombstone socket in intermediate wireway applications. So depending on what type of sign you are retro fitting, single face over 10' with intermediate wireways will use both the marker and bullseye and double face will use the bullseye only. Both come with the "D" shaped back, so you should be able to use the existing wireway covers.

  7. I think you can expect two or three people from ABC to join you. Stop by the booth. It will be manned by Brian, Bob and Renee'. Also our VP, Jack, will be working the MultiCam booth. We are a distributor of MultiCam and he spends most of his time with them. Wish I could be there.

    Mike.

  8. I've always been of the mindset that they're visual distractions and make signs uglier than they should be - but I understand and accept their practical benefits in making installation and service easier. What sort of weight can these support?

I just looked at your website and realized you're on Frontage Rd in Fort Collins. We've done some work with Shaw Sign down the street.

    YYZ,

We have yet to get this product engineered, so technically, I can't answer your question. I can say that this is basically an aluminum square tube, about .090 thick. I suppose the amount of weight it can support depends on the amount of mounting brackets you use and the distance apart that you place them. Because of it's size, it seems more suited to channel letters from 10" to 18". For larger letters, say 24" and over, you would need some creative bracing or you could use two raceways and run them parallel to each other. One towards the bottom and one near the top. I agree that a remote installation of channel letters looks much better than a raceway installation, however more and more shopping centers are requiring raceway mounted letters to avoid having their facias turn into swiss cheese.

We do work for Shaw Sign & Awning all the time. They are about a mile north of us and on the other side of the Interstate highway.

  9. Hi all. Just wanted to let everyone on the forum know that ABC Sign Products is introducing a new LED channel letter raceway to it's extensive selection of aluminum sign frame extrusions. It comes in one piece, and is smaller than our regular channel letter raceway, to accommodate the smaller power supply units required to power LED's. If you would like more information on this product, you can contact me at 866-593-9189 or you can e-mail me at mblanco@abcsignproducts.com

    Thanks.
