  1. "The sign ordinance, which regulates size, placement and operational characteristics such as blinking, flashing and movement, prohibits[/b] the use of any light source, including incandescent bulbs, neon-filled tubes, LEDs and other light supplies, from constituting the text, image or border of a sign."

Man have things changed for the worst in Burbank! I worked there for years and was amazed the size signs they would allow NBC and the studios to have on their buildings............

  3. Kohl's Department Store Goes Green in Alaska

Kohl's, one of the largest retailers in the US, is going green. Kohl's chose Federal Heath Sign to manufacture and install a new prototype LED letterset sign for its Anchorage location, the first store to open in Alaska. The LEDs use less energy and have the added feature of not dimming in cold weather.

Dallas/Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) April 9, 2009 -- Kohl's, one of the largest retailers in the US, is going green in Alaska. The specialty department store chain chose Federal Heath Sign Company to manufacture and install a new prototype LED letterset sign for its Anchorage location, the first Kohl's in Alaska.

In keeping with their 'green scene' initiatives, Kohl's chose LEDs to light the signs. The LEDs have proven reduced energy consumption, with the added feature of not dimming in cold weather. Another consideration was the LEDs ease of service and maintenance (vs. neon), especially important in this area of the country, said Federal Heath's Sales Executive Bill Schwalbach.

To meet Kohl's deadline, Federal Heath used both truck and boat transportation to deliver the new sign on time and within budget, according to Schwalbach. The Anchorage LED sign is the new prototype approved by Kohl's for all future locations.

Federal Heath Sign Company has been providing signs for Kohl's 48 nationwide locations since 1986.

I am amazed that they are still in business with the crap that comes out of their doors! Anyone know what LED manufacturer they use? It was Sloan or Super Vision for awhile I thought.

  4. Personally, I get a kick out how many of these companies think / use their subs as a branch of their line of credit. That kills me

I know that ISD has read this blog and for them not to comment makes you wonder what the hell is really going on in Largo? Reorganizing? Hey ISD......Man up and let your venders know what's going on so they can move on! I know you are reading this. :hitbyrock:

  5. I made some calls and its as bad as everyone is commenting. I will keep checking to see what else is going on through some customers we share...will advise.d

What a shame...............I wish the best for anyone effected by ISD. Hopefully the bank can reorganize the finances and pay off their debts. The owner with the majority 50% needs to kick the Snake family out on their fat asses and conduct business the way he used to.......with Integrity!

  6. Yup, unfortunately, they still owe us $3,251.00 for a reface on TJ Maxx. I went to the Int Sign website and emailed everyone on the site - got the following reply

"Nancy, I sincerely apologize for the run around you have been experiencing. We are in the process of finalizing additional financing from our bank which should be completed in the next couple of weeks. The financing has been approved but the papers just need to be drawn up and signed. This will allow us to start sending out regularly scheduled payments to all of our vendors and really keep us poised to thrive well in to the future. If you could extend me a little more time by refraining from the lien, I would certainly appreciate it. It does not do any of us any good if something was to happen to our customers.

    Thank you,

So, I'm waiting with crossed fingers. And we are demanding deposits from all the int. sign companies (except Fast signs, who pays in like 22 days and are on our Christmas card list...:)

I worked for ISD for 8 years as a installer and I can tell you that at one time they were a great company but I have heard that the President of Sales and his whiny,no experience, cry baby, over weight, lazy ass SONS (Seth and Chuck) are running the place now so I know why they folded. I find it funny that when you have a sucessful business and everything is going well that you would put people in charge that know absolutely nothing about the sign industry. I personally know these "born with a silver spoon in their mouths" kids and they were worthless 9 years ago and it appears that nothing has changed. The owner was a great guy too. Goodbye ISD

  7. Down here in South Texas we have seen quite a bit of slow down since Jan 09.We are starting to see some store closings in our area.We have cut back to 4-day weeks in hope of keeping all employees on this time.If it get any worse we will probably need to lay a few employees off to make ends meet.We have bid quite a few upcoming projects in our area but I think alot of people are holding off on moving foward with them at this time.So we are trying to brace for the worst & hope for the best.We were also burned by Imagepoint for 32k which does not help things.

How does a company get 32k owed to them from IP? Anytime a company owed us that kind of money we would call them and tell them that the signs sitting in our shop that are due to be installed next week WILL NOT be installed till all or a portion of the outstanding debt is paid! Sign hostage works everytime whether it's IP, Fairmont. Action, Icon.......or we quit doing their work..........We told Icon to kiss our ass a few years ago for that reason! Still I feel for you STSG, it is a shame IP put so many in a bad position. My friend in Colorado went to every business that they had completed for IP and threaten leins........she has recovered about 80% so far..Good Luck.

  8. I worked at one company, one of the largest in the area. It has more than halved its size. It also took a large hit from Imagepoint.

I was laid off by them the week of Thanksgiving.

I now work for the largest company in the area. They hired me and laid off 5 guys the following week. They are now very slow. Last year they employed over 100 people and they are now down to 60 I think...

There is no indication of anything picking up any time soon.

    South Florida...

I just got laid off in Fort Myers Florida.........Been in the sign biz for over 30 years and never been without a job! Never collected unemployment! First time for everthing I guess........... Got some good offers in the last 24 hours so hopefully it wont be long till I am back...........Fishing is good though!!!!!!!!!
