  1. We run 2 Radocy Cranes, a King Crane, a Terex High Ranger Bucket and an Altec Bucket. We recently added an L60 Elliot which has rapidly become the unit of choice for both service and installation.

The Altec is a great unit, not so much with the High Ranger. We have decided that when the time comes we are going to replace the bucket trucks with the Elliot O43.

The last 3 units we bought were all used and they worked out fine (the Elliot, Altec and Terex).

All our units work everyday so scheduled maintenance is extremely important and is highly recommended no matter what you are running.

  2. We have used a vacumm truck on several of our bases recently and it works great, only drawback is the limited capacity of the tank which sometimes requires an additional trip to the landfill when the bases get too large. We even use the vac for trenching the electrical in. It works great in Canada for cutting thru frost in the winter, cuts asphalt as well. Other advantage is when working close tolocated underground services there is less chance of damage to cables etc. The vac trucks seem to be readily available in most municipalities.

We are doing 2 - 3' diameter X 10'deep holes tomorrow using a vac and I will have the crew take some photos that I will post. The largest excavation we have done to date with a vac is 2 - 4' diameter by 15' deep holes, as luck would have it the dealer we were working at had lots of space to get rid of the waste.

    Hope this was helpful.

  3. Very true Snoochie. I bet to warranty a bad lamp you have to pay shipping, and it is probably super high.

I was told years ago that the main factor in flourescent lamp life is the number of operating hours per strat. The guarantee lamp companies have been ripping off the home owner for years and is now trying us on.

  4. Hey Rocco:

Booked yesterday at the Luxor with airfare out of Detroit, Wednesday to Saturday $ 437.00 USD ea. We booked thru Orbitz.com and they had packages out of Toronto for about the same money. The prices have been steadly increasing over the last 2 weeks. Detroit just works better for us.

  6. So now my Elliot rental is gone, they picked it up Friday. I still do not have the Skylift crane here ready to use. Or another truck to use. Once again our business loses money and our customers get pissed off because the truck is not ready.

    Hi Rocco:

Sorry to hear nothing is happening for you on this truck. If I can help you out in the London area or anywhere else in South Western Ontario let me know. 1-800-265-7035

  7. What do you think of this overhang from the back axle, be honest.

    Hey Rocco:

They are obviously grabbing at straws with this fix. I hope you can get it sorted out. A different truck maybe?? I am really interested in what MTO has to say about it but I would be just as concerned or more concerned about Ministry of Labour. This certainly gives Elliot a leg upo in our search for a new unit. If you can't get it sorted out before the show in Florida you should take it down and put it on display as what not to do.

  8. I want to give a big welcome to our newest Board Vendor, Mike Burke of Chatterbox Designs.

Mike is the Author of Inside Sign Design, this is a very unique book that JUST came out on sign design that I have never seen before, or anyone for that matter. This is one of those unique books that every shop should have on their shelf, maybe even a couple of copies depending on how large your shop is. It's a great learning tool for those new employees too.

Mike has also just created his first exclusive tutorial for The Sign Syndicate with more to come, located in our tutorial section for Board Patrons & Vendors.

  9. We have a zero tolerance policy.

Its not something we take lighly, if you are suspected, your tested, if you fail, your gone, doesnt matter the position.

In Ontario Canada you can't even smoke tobacco in the workplace or in Company owned vehicles. The fines for doing so are quite heavy.

  10. Yes I can - every one of the SHOPPERS, the largest Drug Store chain in Canada, uses AXIOM 6500K.

I thought you were asking about fluorescent replacement? As in light boxes or awnings?

I know that Pride likes the cooler LED color, but Shoppers is predominantly channel letters and many of them are still neon.

All the box/cabinet signs are switching to LEDs as well.

  11. I'm still gettign a few issues resolved but I'm thinking of importing a program that will integrate Facebook. We'll see how it is and kick it around. It would be nice to integrate Linkin instead.

Down the road I will deal with the arcade, that's last on my list of things to do.

Let me know of nay weird quarks or mishaps. Anyone experiencing slow processing of the site?

    No Facebook please.
