  1. I hear ya Paul,

A maintenance company in your neck of the woods stipulates 1/2 hour travel allowance. I told them it is 1 hour each way so you need to change your PO. Never heard back and then they were saying their customer was mad. Bit the bullet and went only because we had others to do there and realized it was more indepth than initially thought, so called because the NTE was exceeding and they got mad. Told them to send one of their own trucks which I see all the time running around.

it wouldnt happen to be a white dodge ram bucket truck would it

    .......with black lettering Maybe?????

  3. My best advice is to put a marketing packet together and send it to them (attn. PM) and offer your services.

Really don't think they are going to tell you who THEIR customers are so you can do work for them directly.

If you do get work from a National don't go contacting corporate directly. Nationals put a lot of time in making relationships and word will get back to them real fast and then to other installers and fabricators that do sub work for them in your area. Not a good thing.

    Just my .02

  4. Truck is sweet, saw it in AC. Like the through bed boxes so it is accessible from either side, well thought out design perfect size for getting into the areas you need (have available) is city type situations.

  5. Now there's a double negative. Help me source but I can not supply you. I don't understand?

Why meanwell, There is a by far much better one you can buy direct for cheaper and goes from 90-270 volt.

What majors do you have in your area that would dictate national distribution. or are they locals doing national work for the Majors?

  6. well, the best way to find out is call the local distributors Glantz, Tubelite and Pan Am and ask what's the cheapest you have on the shelf and what's available. There has been a little joke in the sign industry for some years which seems to come true. "Its a race to the bottom".

Now, are you looking to use these products or just duplicate them, You did mention in an earlier post that you are starting to manufacture. Are you sticking with the EMC side or the run of the mill channel letters?

  7. I think a lot of the service cost is labor. I did a simple repump on a job for our company that was a trade job. I do not know what the cost to them was but I saw the bill they sent to the customer and they charged them 150$ for the repump.. I asked him about it and he said if he charges them very high $ they will change it out and wont need you.

Back to dough boy. If a company that is versed in doing exterior neon would be able to revamp that sign and make it problem free for at least 5 years. but then again you would be competing against every tom, dick and harry including the franchise vinyl shops that are being pushed by corporate to do work way out of their scope of everyday production. This is where the added costs and continuous maintenance is.

I don't know Lawrence sign but would be safe to say that they do not do Neon and are basing it on sub work and the sales rep is on a commission base.
