  1. That's F-ing nasty. I wouldn't clean that crap up either. 15 years back, I was rebuilding an old Theater marquee. Full of pigeons and crap. All of us working on that sign were lucky enough to get Mite's on our arms and other places. It took a frigging year almost, and numerous prescribed medications to get rid of them.

Got a call last week, asking us to remove a bee hive in a bldg. sign. I told them to call a pest control company. They actually were shocked, we wouldn't come out and at least check the infestation out. Since it was attached to a sign. Dealing with a few wasps is one thing. A bee hive is a different story.

  2. I hope they have 1" thick Lexan covers...They wouldn't make it a week on a Dallas street, without a police officer guarding each one.

The application has it's strong points I think. I'm sure YESCO has them selected, and is pounding on their doors.

The last few years, I've noticed a lot of EMC companies are going direct to customers. They cut out the middleman (sign shops) on the sale. Then refer the customer to us, to install and pull permits.

  3. Let me guess the phone call.

Erik: So miss tree hugger fella, what's your plan on natural Mercury contamination.

Tree Hugger: Erik, it's natural. So that means it's OK. Evil neon Mercury is not natural contamination. It's man made by all the multi Billion Dollar sign shops across the country. All the sign shops are big business, and have a huge lobby in DC. Making sure no one knows they're dumping millions of tons of waste Mercury daily. I however, am so smart. I figured this conspiracy against mother earth, all on my own.

  4. Anyone out there capable, or know someone who can roll 2" x 4" x 1/8" wall Aluminum rectangular tubing? I need (x16) 17' 6" pieces rolled (the easy way-2") on a 60' radius. There was a company 2 hrs away that did it for me 6 years ago. They're gone now. I have been striking out all over the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area. My roller won't handle it, we tried before. If anyone knows someone, or can do it. Please send me a contact. I don't care if it's in Istanbul. I need to get rolling on this. (no pun intended)

    Thanks, Mark

  5. Tough call. In Dallas, I can't get TXU to put insulators on power lines anymore. They told me it was against their policy. Looks like you have a pretty mean slope/grade to deal with as well. I assume by the pic your going to install on the radius portion of the fascia. Looks like a pucker factor job. Do it on a weekend when OSHA is sleeping. I'd go with an insulated ladder. Scaffolding will put you too close to the lines.

  6. Mega Volt, The taxes and pay outs you're referring to come out of the "Federal Budget". This tax goes directly to oblamacare. Since we all know how effectively our gov runs programs, it will never be enough. I in no shape or form support oblamacare, or any mandated health insurance program. For the record, I am insured. I also pay over 1/2 of my employees health care benefits. We have a great policy with all the bells and whistles. I do have 2 employees who will not get on our insurance plan. They refuse to spend the $40 per week. They are uninsured. These employees also make over $20 per hour, and $40 a week won't kill them or affect their lifestyle. Why in the heck should any taxpayer support their medical problems?

I pay plenty for indigent healthcare in the form of property taxes. Not to mention over billing by hospitals and doctors to our insurance company.

Since you do well in the neon business. Are you willing to take your good fortune and spread it around to the other not so performing neon shops across the country? I hope not, but what's next?

I'm sick and tired of doing the right thing. I create good paying jobs, despite the regulations and taxes that hinder my business. Then I get to sit back and watch the leeches on TV tell me they need more, for doing absolutely nothing with their lives.

  7. It's been a long time ago. But I did reverse channel letters for the North Texas Tollway Authority. We had the letters chromed for them. I'm not sure what you're wanting to get chromed. If I recall, the process was pretty reasonable. (That was 10+ yrs ago). I know this doesn't help you. What are you trying to chrome?
