I appreciate all the responses and useful info!

We've got a job that's calling out for some border neon around a building's roof line. My question: what's the standard neon, 13mm or 15mm?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know where I can find purple LEDs?
There is a very specific colour of LED that is just pushing the border between blue and ultra violet and shows as a very strong and psychedelic purple colour, but I've not seen signage products that use it, perhaps because it would only have limited applications.
To achieve a purple with readily available products you may need to get an RGB system and just lock it at a specific mix of red and blue.
Thanks for your input!

We have PCBs that allow us to specially tune a specific color mix using RGB diodes, but without the need for RGB controls and complicated wiring. Purple is made by mixing mostly Blue with a little bit of Red.
Send me an email with some project details (size, letters, etc...) and I'll see what we can do.
Thanks! I sent an e-mail to info@yyzsystems.com; the e-mail on your page was set to private. Let me know if you don't get the e-mail.

These are 2 very different things.
Exactly. I would say that repairing message centers is a very tedious and sometimes difficult task. I work in the office at my shop, but they have me go out and fix them because a lot of times it takes computer and mechanical skills to repair a unit.
Although, a representative from the message center's manufacturer will assist you over the phone for as long as it takes to fix.
I don't know if that helps you...

Arryn, Our shop is smaller but we pay our sales/estimator (he does both) at the higher end of the scale. No Commission - and he has some other percs as well. I think Geraldi hit it right on.
Cheers!
Thanks!

Our company is looking to hire a lead installer. We're in Melbourne, Florida. Please let me know of any interest. E-mail me at arryn@sign-access.com. Thanks.

Nobody has any input or advice? I guess most sign companies don't use an estimator...

Speaking of "wonderful" that was my fav vinyl album of theirs
I thought it would be humorous to reference them like that!
I envy you for seeing Social Distortion that many times... I've only seen them once.
I'm glad to see you didn't loose your taste in music, as most people I know have.

LOL at Circle Jerks. I have that character tattoo'd on my arm, unfinished work. My favorite punk band growing up
Not your favorite anymore? Wonderful band...

Melbourne, major city in Australia. Sorta pointless where I went with that whole post now...
Ohhh.... Right. I guess that's legitimate.

I take it you're in Australia? I'll admit to having some old vinyl from the Hard-ons, maybe even still have an original pressing of Smell My Finger.
Gotta love youtube.... these are bringing back some find memories - we covered some of these songs.

I'm in Florida. What makes you think of Australia?
Yeah, I can spend a lot of time on Youtube too... It's slightly addicting.

Fave shows way back when would have to be Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys... but you can't listen to that stuff at the office.
I do it everyday. But then again I have my own office and nobody can hear my jams. When I used to be in the main office with cubicles, I couldn't play it.
I would love to have seen Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys. I envy you!

The best bands that played tight and put on a good show was Rancid and of course Bad Religion! The pits were huge and never did I ever walk out of there without a bloody nose, shredded knuckles and of course looking my PageNet Pager somewhere on the beer soaked concrete.
Those were the days
Bad Religion shows are awesome. It does get pretty intense in the pit during their set.
You like some good bands; kudos.

What's your experience and what type and volume company do you work for?
I'm new to estimating (only two months under my belt). We're a full service electric sign company with about $2.5 million in annual sales.

I recently starting estimating at my company, and was wondering if anyone knows what an average salary for an estimator would be. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I need some help again...
We're doing a couple DOT signs that accompany a large job we're doing. We are looking for precast footers. Anyone know where to get them?
