  1. It's alright, basically they just showed how to hand rout some letters, gold leafing, a little hand carving and the shopbot. The didn't show much of the machine though, just doing some letters. Then he went back to his workshop and did some hand routing of some letters with a V-carve type bit. If I knew how to save it I could send it down to you, otherwise I could just put it in the mail. Let me know, I've already watched it a couple of times.

  2. Anyone catch the re-run of the New Yankee Workshop on Saturday? It was the one where they make signs.

He went to a sign shop that made their sign in front of the shop. It was pretty cool. They showed a guy that used to carve the signs using a hand held router, then how they do them now on their Shopbot. That thing is quiet with the spindle! What's the difference between a spindle and a router?

  3. Great story.

I was surfing that morning around 6am and my friend Rod came paddling out saying something about a plane hitting the WTC. I had no idea what building that was and kept surfing. I went home and turned on the T.V. and was shocked to see what was happening. I also saw the buildings fall live. Horrific.

I worked at Costco at the time and the mood there was weird for days, weeks afterwards. People changed the way they acted, at least for a few days. Everyone felt closer.

  4. I gotta call FedEx tomorrow but will they take a 4'x15' complete with a acrylic face?

    They take 6'5" surfboards. :P

I shipped my board back from Hawaii under my friends shipping account, saved me the $80 on the airplane.

  5. For those that don't get the magazine:

"If you are interested in electric signs (or are looking to mingle with electrical sign makers), be sure to check out this "alternate" sign industry community. Not recommended for the easily offended, this site is structured like an online pub: Sign makers can sit back at their computer and shoot the breeze. Once you register, you can post messages on the site's forums (dedicated to a wide range of topics-signs and non-sign-related), read a collection of blogs, check out some fascinating sign making stories, and (arguably best of all) play an endless number of arcade-style video games. (You can even participate in tournaments). There is even an opportunity to try out your karaoke skills. Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, and always worth visiting, this is an electifying online hangout. And Rayoflight sucks at the arcades."

Okay, I added that last comment. :arcadefreak:
