  2. Eric,

Did our rep ever get in touch with you? I gave him your cell #

Yep.. he sure did. He gave me a general overview of some of the companies in the area.

I think the best thing is for me to visit the companies in person and not try to talk to people on the phone or through a fax.

Like anything else in life, you can get a better feel for someone or a company if you are right there in front of them...=)

I was just hoping that a few people or companies might provide a little informaion about the area.

  3. Well now..... I'm guessing that helping the service guy on the phone trouble shoot a sign, helping an officer person find a service company while writing the above post was not the best of ideas...lol

Below is an edited verson of how the above was to read:

I am going to be moving to the twin cities area in the next month or two and was wondering if there is a market for someone with 12+ yrs in neon tube bending in that area. I am also familiar with design software and general shop management.( too much info to post at once ) I can provide detailed information to those that may be interested.

Thanks for any leads or information you may provide.

  6. It could be that the distributors are working on a small margine and there's no room for extreme discount or they know that the manufacturers wont sell direct.

Just dont buy that cheap Mexican stuff or junk from China. You are working on some high profile accounts that specify what plastic is used. Use the distributor as your warehouse, work out a deal with them to always have X amount of product in stock for you so when you need it it is there. Work out an incentive with them (the distributor) that if they do not have the minimum you require in stock you should get an additional discount. This will have the distributor make sure that the plastic is there for you. If not then you get a better price than what you agree on. The manufacturer would work better with you also. The distributor does not want to carry anything on the shelf unless they have to.

We go through that all the time. The distributor will tell the customer it is a special order item or they are out of it or some other BS line. Hey, if you are doing that much channels then we should have a stocking order for you sitting on your distributors shelf. Do you want a tote of clear and 71 sitting there for ya :sml (26):

    Just some thoughts

I have already been to that dog and pony show a few times. Fact is, we have purchased the same plastics for 1/3 under (50% off at one time because they got stuck with some off sizes) the current prices and are looking for the same prices on future orders. While we will be purchasing in larger quantities there are no distributors holding that much at any one time unless we get lucky and they "just received it". While we realize that the 50% discount occured under special circumstances the 33% discount did not.

Once again, thanks for all your input.

  7. I'm not real sure how I got stuck with researching this one but....

We are looking for a wholesale distributor for acrylic and sign grade acrylic/polycarb.

The order quantity will be in increments of 60-100 and will be in the following colors and sizes.

Clear, White and Red (211-1 alt # 2283)

    52x100

    75x125

    72x96

If anyone knows of a great domestic source for mass purchasing or a creditable internation source please post here.

    Thanks in advance,

    E
