There are some who think we are not far from that scenario. And if that is true, then we ALL have a LOT to worry about! After rethinking my previous post I must say that a person should have the right to have whatever they want on the sign they paid for as long as it is verbally legal (no 4 letter words, etc.) That is freedom of speech and expression and not as bad as holding up a sign during a political speech telling the politician to "go home". Let them market to the clientele they want to. If they lose business because some people cannot read their sign, oh well! They made the choice. However, I still stand by my position on teaching English as the primary language in our schools. That is absolutely the only way it should be. And if someone doesn't like it give them a ticket "home". I will gladly donate the first one to get the ball rolling. But if they come back into this country they have to abide by our new rules - no exceptions!

I would not have a problem if someone wanted something on their sign in another language. But I think the vast majority of it should be in English. OR, if they don't want their sign in English - fine. But don't start making demands that schools start teaching their language to everyone just so we can read their sign and communicate with them in their native language! Sorry, this sort of thing gets me fired up :bitchin:

I saw that this morning on my Road Runner home page. Although the article didn't mention Mr. Ruby saying anything about OJ's girlfriend, it did mention that after OJ left (without incident - uncharacteristic of OJ) that the rest of the patrons applauded Mr. Ruby.

LMAO! You are absolutely correct. Good call. I have to say I didn't pay a lot of attention to the pictures or the article - just skimmed through it - as lighting a parking garage really didn't interest me. That wasn't very 'bright' taking the "after" picture before the job was finished and then putting the intentionally darkened picture right below it.

I read that article after I posted about Jeff mentioning this site. I could not agree with you more! I looked at the pictures and thought 'How much tweaking went in to the pictures to make the "old" light source look really bad and the "new" LED's look really good?' I think Raleigh is in for a big surprise regarding long term maintenance costs - at least if they intend to maintain anywhere near the original level of light they are so impressed with.

I am inclined to agree with these guys that in order to approximate the face brightness of double stroke neon under these circumstances you would need more/better quality LED's. Of course this means the finished letters will cost even more compared to neon illuminated letters. If you want to make it even more attractive to use neon, consider using one of the tri phosphor whites of the appropriate color temperature for the faces instead of a standard phosphor white. EGL, TecnoLux and Voltarc all offer a selection of tri phosphor whites. You should be able to use a single stroke instead of a double stroke and get close to the same face brightness due to better color rendering. This means less glass and less transformers. You can charge more per foot or unit (however you price your work) so you can still make decent money for the glass, but it will still cost less to manufacture the finished letters and you will have a better illuminated letter.

And just imagine what the dirt-balls could do on the "outside" with a well equipped modern machine shop. They would be popping gun parts out of CNC machines like candy!

If there was a way to completely get rid of all the guns in the world - throw them in the crusher, get rid of all of them so NO ONE had a gun - not even the police and military... what would happen? Answer: The bad guys would illegally make new ones because laws don't mean anything to them. Same with "gun free zones".
