  1. Almo Enters Distribution Agreement with N. Glantz and Son The professional AV company will acquire assets from the dynamic sign division.Almo Professional A/V announced it has entered into a distribution agreement with N. Glantz & Son to acquire assets from its dynamic digital sign division, Glantz Dynamic Solutions (GDS). As part of the agreement, the GDS business will be led in-house by Almo’s sales and service team along with Terry Tollison, Almo’s newest business development manager for the traditional sign market. “As a result of this distribution agreement, we are now able to take our leadership and expertise in digital signage directly to the static signage market to help these resellers and integrators incorporate dynamic solutions into their businesses," Sam Taylor, executive vice president and COO for Almo Professional A/V, said. "The addition of Terry to our specialized BDM team will help make this transition smooth and seamless. We intend to support GDS’s customer base in the sign industry with the same high level of service and support that GDS provided in the past.” Tollison brings more than 30 years of experience in sales, sign production, manufacturing and leadership positions within the sign industry. Prior to Almo, Tollison was national sales manager for Glantz Dynamic Solutions. He also held sales positions at Custom Sign Images Inc., A&W Sign Company and Reece Supply Co. Additionally, he served as president and owner of Custom Sign Images. Tollison is a Digital Signage Certified Expert (DSCE).
  2. For whatever reason they were not able to gain traction N.Glantz & Son closes down their Glantz Dynamic Solutions. I'm surprised at this news. Every time I get a look at my social media contact and page posts Digital Signage is always on the "rise" and the next big coming. Anyone know if this is a slow down, conflict in industry meshing, or just not getting off like it's being portrayed? Around town I just don't see Digital Signage or the Touch Screen market picking up or being used like what we read about in our industry magazines (which can't be a big surprise who believes them anyway). I see very few of it, not sure if the easibility to use for the consumer is not there, an annoyance so it's not being used, or not cost effective for a business to buy? I could be wrong and it may be widely used in other parts of the country/world than here in Southern California, but we're usually a part of the country that's ahead of the curve on trends.
  3. I came across this and I think it's well worth re-posting. If this is not the definition of honor, I don't know what is. All I can say is....THAT...is true love for the ones you care about and THAT is what true friendship is about. All the best to Mark Haist and the Commercial NeonTanielian Family!
  4. The Soap Opera continues. As predicted, Sloan (not the toilet/urinal manufacturer) fires N.Glantz & Son, borrows GE's boot, to give the boot. This was predicted back in April of this year when GE dumped N.Glantz & Son like an ugly girlfriend http://www.thesignsy...-dumps-nglantz/ This comes on the eve of SloanLED's release of "about to hit the market" new products. Since N.Glantz has a partnership with JT LED, they just can't be counted on for pushing and promoting Sloans new products. So now the rumor is, Sloan is going to Montroy. All in all, it just makes better business sense for N.Glantz to exile them all and make a better profit margin in this cut throat "budget LED" (which they lead) market that's going on right now, it's just one big race to see who can make it to the bottom first. If I had a horse in the race, which I don't this would be one race I'd suggest sitting out and watching only from the stands. After all, I thought the only reason why people watch NASCAR was for the big crashes.
  5. On 2/16/2011 on N. Glantz's FaceBook page there was a question raised on their wall by a client or fan of theirs. They were asking if there was any sources they could go to to obtain information on benefits of energy savings using LEDs vs Neon in channel letters to show their clients. I pointed to some links here on some threads with various info. N.Glantz replied back pointing that person to Sloan LED's calculator. I then replied back after using the calculator that it was a pretty accurate compared to most that I've seen. I then set up a quick ROI calculations using the GW3 modules with neon on a set of 10 channel letters, and what the basic costs were, the ROI was something like 15 years or so, something like that it was long term. Letting the person know that using that particular module, it wouldn't benefit savings on energy annually because of the upfront cost. Now the post on their wall was deleted. That's not very nice. Was it something I said? Maybe if I would have plugged in JT LED's it would have stayed, but then we would get into a brightness issue as well. Some people just don't like the truth when it doesn't benefit them, what TRULY happened to standing behind what you sell. just because it was a higher cost vs neon for CL's doesn't mean it couldn't be used for something else in another application, or on a high rise building and such. This industry of ours, sometimes. How many more days till Vegas do we have? I need a beer.
  6. I challenge one of the leading people in the sign industry that yesterday told me that this site is a joke and only 5 people post here! Help me prove them wrong - the little voice is huge in this industry! #1 post - Manuel Lynch - Las Vegas and New Zealand
