  1. You guys are exactly right. As a sign painter you can adapt with the times or close your doors to the young punk down the block who has no skill but knows how to work a computer(dont get me wrong I know the computer takes skill too). But the sign painter that has accepted the computer gets to keep working when the power goes out or the computer hard drive takes a dump or the plotter freaks out. My dad was a sign painter that got to see vinyl come and take over the world. He would tell me how happy he was that I wanted to learn his trade but to keep an open mind to new things. Thats why today I can sell, do vinyl, design, paint, hand letter, fabricate, install, make neon, survey, etc. I have made it a point to learn as many aspects to the business as I can to keep me working. But I never forget what I knew first because sure enough someone will ask me if I know someone. I get to say 'well sure I know someone'.
  2. I suggest on the 4th that everyone take a minute of silence to remember why the USA is the greatest country in the world. To remember all the struggles the country has been thru to be what it is today and to help make other countries what they are today or maybe tomorrow. Whether the struggle is ours or some one elses, the basis has most always been the same as to why we were there. The struggle for freedom. My hats off to the lady liberty!
  3. Your not sick in the head Westcoast Sign Guy. Your just sick in the head. But I agree with you. There is nothing like what we sign people do for a living. Not only do I sell, make and install signs for a living. I also do this as a hobby as well. That to me is awsome. It is a great thing to come to a problem and then figure it out no matter how big or small in my opinion. I especially like the problem of being behind the deadline. There is the stress of the scramble to get the job done on time while maintaining quality. And also to see the co-workers that are normally laid back to come to life and join in on the fun of full throtle stress. At the end of the job I get to realize I kept my integrity of personal quality and being. And that I have my guys respect to join in on the fun, listen and to band together. It is a beautiful thing I tell you. Also, if you think of it we are somewhat god like(dont freak out on me people, I havent gone to my head). We tell people where to go, how to get there, where their at, etc. People would be lost without the sign person. We are directors of daily life. Allright I'm rambling. T-I-M-E-T-O-G-O-T-O-B-E-D
  4. I think B.O.P. may just be my idol. He is an neon apparatus mastermind, a big motor head and by god the man speaks Greek too. Is there anything you cant do?
  5. Must be freaky friday. Not much activity on any of the boards, neon boards anyway. Poor me, I get to sit at this desk making sketches and talking on the phone.
  6. 59 years old. Does this mean you were around when they invented dirt? Happy Birthday!!
  7. Now I dont know about the rest of you folks, but if joemomma and BOP would get into the service truck or into the fires they might actually get some work done. If I could get that dancin' banana to work this might be a bit funnier.
