  1. Busted ankle (screws and torn ligaments) from changing a sign face so I am out. Wife said I can do Vegas next year cause we r taking the kids to Disney in October.
  2. do you need the signage installed and final hookup. What is the scope of the work you are doing? We do a lot of work in that area and are located only half hour or so from there. You can PM me or post it here.
  3. like the midevil approach. Life is a full circle. back to when you can legaly chop a head off. like it.
  4. Do you think Fluoresco will handle outsourcing the installs and service for the franchise brands that Everbrite builds?
  5. LOLOLOLLOOL how about the service call for a service call when the original is mounted and the replacement is just thrown in there. Anyone thought about using the circuit taps like in a panel for the (common or ground line) for the low voltage connections, Beats the hell out of those big blue wire nuts, but does add a few cents onto the material list and inspectors really like when its done that way.
  6. They are very good systems. The connections are easy and it is very versatile. I do recommend just pumping off one side. (less connections) I will give tech support (to a certain extent) for any system Erik sells. And for gods sake outgas the lines on the transfer system for a long time before opening a new tank even if it is exposed to atmosphere for just a minuite when you change the tanks.
  7. nice job Erik, what happened to John. I saw him in december at AC. . Been out of the loop for a while, Doing installs everyday all over the state. I even got to do a neon service call. and swap out a ventex 9030.
  8. looks warm but not really, my new office. When we painted the poles it was like molasses. was a balmy 10 degrees with no wind. got real cold after sun went down.
  9. it wuz f,n cold last week here in joisey as well. gottsa do what ya gotta do. dress rite and all will be ok. keep wiring to a minimum. Actually glad I,m not sittin behind a desk all day anymore and out doing stuff, In the dead of summer it will be hot as hell so enjoy the cold while it.s here.
  10. Hilti. We bought the 2 that Gary listed on here and the are great. corded by far is better for large jobs, cordless for a light stuff. if you are not going to do a lot like this go to harbor freight and get the chicago electric hammer.
  11. ..... And a happy and prosperous New Year to all. Time goes by fast so you must sit back every once and a while and just look back at what you have done and appreciate the fact that , yes- you do make a difference in everything you do.
  12. nice night shot, Told you it would look nice with the "larger" glass. Your typical neon guy will cringe at anything larger than 15mm. Poohey on them. more neon signs would look great with the larger diameter glass. borders in 20 or 25mm look great. problem is that most tiny pump systems cant sucessfully process cathode tubes. Kudos on the job again. At least someone took my advice LOL
  13. Let me get this straight, You pay for the stickers and you have to pay for visits, unexpected and scheduled visits.
  14. website looks more like a "look at me" type thing as I pat my own back. Would really like to see their 350K show room though. Do have to say the nicest show room I have ever been in hands down is Manuel's when he was with Permlite.
  15. Looks nice, Glad you went with the 18mm white. It stands out even though it's only 3mm larger than the typical out line glass. Nice job.
  16. I to have for many years told people about the site on my many journeys. Being one of the first couple of members have seen the site grow, grow and grow. Many have told me that the site wont last like some other sites that just go away or get over run by one or two people, but probably has close to or more members than some of the magazines in the trade keeping in mind that the mags send multiple copies to each shop for different peep's where I know some shops on here have one member and share the site with others in the office. Way to go Erik and Kgirl.
  17. didn't make Vegas but going to Orlando. May be bringing the family to this one if wifey has spring break then checkin on the dates. Erik, You talked to Jim about the timeshares and not the palace you stayed at last time.
  18. I used the wire and boots on the Coney Island Carousell job and they were a real pleasure to work with I used 500 ft of wire and a few hundred of the boots. The wire was very user friendly, Didn't cover me with powder and the way that the boots are rounded at both ends on the straights are very nice to work with. The white ceramic bushings hold the background paint good as well. Oh yeah-- The wooden rolls are great for extension cords when the wire is done, No fall apart boxes and also give us short people a few extra inches in the shop when giants build tables to accommodate them.
  19. Now that u have the industry wrapped up in a nutshell there is nothing else to argue about. PS- Distributors have everything you need on the shelf waiting for your beckoning call to deliver it for free.
  20. Happy Birthday to our Commander-in-Chief. Enjoy the day and Thanks for everything you do for all of us and bring light to the Industry.
  21. I have always used EGL CL71, Horizon blue. and tropic green. The HP Green is cheaper with same effects. If I feel the shop I am sending the glass to has burly installers I will use VTI cause I can easily repair a busted new unit. Red, cant touch the performance of clear red (orange) as far as life and degradation but if customer is f;n cheap I will throw in any red LED. Box sign LED have used US LED's have not tried EGL boxstar, advertised it as coming soon for a few years when I was there, They have it now but waiting for samples to try. Most likely to over designed for the typical shop As far as lamps, T12 primarily. VTI makes Frances T8 so which ever is more cost effective. Have had good luck as my friends here on the shore have had with JS white .5 watt. Not to be mixed with Glantz JT, Yuck. 1 watters EGL has a nice one, but... Power supplies, Don't matter as long as its not sloan with LED. Prefer magnetic transformers over electronic anyday for glass
  22. I will check out the heater. you want 110 or 220. look at the name on there now, you can buy anything online yourself that you buy from a distributor. Just be creative in your searches and don't just google one word and look at the first few selections. I used to get stuff off LABX, a auction site for laboratory equipment. If anything you can get manufacturer names of the auctions in the descriptions and run with it from there. Hell, Daco didn't make anything themselves (except for what Mike brought to the table and made for them) They had to buy it from some one. My Almamata only buys that stuff on a needed basis, the days of carrying stock is over and there is a ton of used stuff out there. As far as pro dremel, glass dust is not an issue. There are more issues with cracking and chips of glass from a file. The dremel cuts smooth. Maybe the ones that were complaining about the dremel just do not know how to use one or used the typical cut off wheel because they are cheaper and break. they may be the ones that are still in the dark ages and use glass stopcocks and refuse change. Trust me on the dremel, it will take a few cuts to get it down but after that you will use nothing else. cant use the cordless ones, the RPM is not fast enough, if you get an adjustable one. Let it get to full speed and cut when the glass is at room temperature or you will cut a line straight through the wall.
  23. Nice, Scotty Botty Wotty , the neon cowboy resides in Austin as well.
  24. they are nice but stretch out. Try using a dremel with a diamond cutoff wheel. You can cut a 1?4" off ruby with it. The wheel costs about 10$ but will last about a year as long as you don't bend it. Havent used a file in about 5 + years
