My first thing I have to say to you is this. The only way you can be successful is to take a risk. To take a chance at failing, even if you do fail it's okay. In order to succeed you must fail first. How many game winning shots did Michael Jordan miss? A hell of a lot more than he made I was 20 when I was introduced formally into the sign industry by chance. I loved graphic arts throughout school and working with computers. So when I was given a job everything sort of fell into place for me. I worked for just one other person from the initial introduction and 6 months later form the first day of signs I was on my own. For me it was because I had to, I had a 4 month year old boy and I had to out of my family survival. What did I have to loose? I could go back to bagging groceries? But I always was a self starter. My last sign shop ( I only worked for 2), I was at odds with the owner and we always butted heads. I worked for him for 3 months, and in the last 1.5 months I was passing my cards under empty suites and shops. Towards the last weeks of my employment I was in the back of the shop and I overheard my boss in his office screaming to his top salesman "Who is this Erik Guy?!?!?!" A long pause then the office door opened. "Erik, come into my office please" Shocked I walked into his office. "Erik, what's your last name?" I told him and he sort of had a shocked look on his face. He thanked me and told me to go about my business. His salesmen had seen all my cards I had passed out throughout the city. As I worked in the back of the shop I was getting paged from my g/f at the time who was taking messages, so I had to sneak out of the shop and make my business calls. One day I just got tired of making $7.50 an hour. My intention to work for a sign company was fullfilled, I thought I had learned all I could from that shop and start on my own. So I quit, and started bidding jobs. As each job went I would put into my cost, tools. As each job went I grew with more tools. I took out a small 5k loan and bought a roland 24" vinyl cutter. I now had a fire under my ass, competition with my much hated boss. My old work became my nemeses. Anytime I saw one of their cards under a door I fished it out, every time I was bidding a similar job I would under bid them. I made it a point to destroy my old place of work. That was my fire. Sounds sick but it was my motivation. Everyone who wants to own their own business has to be motivated and work your ass off. There will always be negatives and you "can" fail. You have to try or one day you may regret it. My drive was there initially but my knowledge was not. I took on jobs I had no idea on how I was going to do it, but I did it at the end. My drive exceeded my knowledge. As you know there are the + & -'s. You are your own source of income and the job is not layed out in front of you like the average Joe. Just remember, a day dreamer will always stay sleeping

lmao well that's like not expecting to wait long at the DMV. The private factor charities and citizens acted faster than the government as usual and that's the way it's always been. Neighbors helping neighbors, I never look or wait for help from anyone else other than myself. But there is going to be all kinds of people who will politcise this and it's already going around "Black and white Issue" Bush's fault". Give me a break!!! No matter how peeps prepare for something it never ends up the way they figure. Yes our governement acted slow but, what's new. Red Cross and private charities were out there very fast. But I wouldn't go out anywhere if I'm getting shot at by people I'm trying to help. It's hard, ever try to rescue someone drowning? If your not careful they will drown you. Bottom line this all comes down to, everyone should have left. If I know there's a cat 5 storm coming common sense tells me to leave especially if I have a family. There are the poor that can't get out but a lot of them have real dumb excuses. lmao @ the hotel who hired 5 buses and paid 25k to get their guests out and when the escape buses arrived they get commandered by FEMA and told tuff shit walk and find your own way. But I like the story about the guy who commandered a bus from FEMA and drove it to the Dome to get people out of there ****edited Sorry didn't get a chance to finish the post. Went to a orientation for our Kindergartener at a public school (Governemnt run) and they were so un-prepared and a complete waste of time. Supposed to meet the teacher and class room and it didn't happen. Parents were pist, see just like the DMV...you wait forever and they fook you at the end!

My thoughts exactly on looting. Water, Food, survival supplies, NIKE SHOES?!??! PEople can be so stoopid and ignorance rapid. People walking out of stores with trash cans full of radios, CD's and retail items. What are you going to do with that and where are you going to put the stuff? It's flooded! After watching everything unfold on TV before our eyes it's really making me wonder about my own preparedness living in socal next to the San Andreas Fault line and being in the Ring Of Fire. To top it off also having a Nuclear Reactor that is closer to Marek than I What if a major disaster like a Super Quake happens here? How long will we be out of water, gas & food? How much crime will occur how much theft and violence? I'm watching TV and seeing dumb asses robbing anybody with water or food, rapes going on. If it were a super quake it would be months for anything to return to someone liveable. Anyway just venting out loud, but the nextime I go to costco I think I'm buying some extra trays of bulk food and keeping extra 5 gallon jugs of water around in a closet. Judging from the crime on TV, might as well buy a shotgun too. Earthquakes here, flooding and hurricanes in the south and south east, twisters in the heartland, Yeeeeeee

I've never heard of the other ones you've mentioned but I own two rolands and they work great, especially on the long run. I also have a 24" Panther from signwarehouse which I'm very happy with. Corel will work great as well with doing signs and graphics. Personally I use FlexiSign Pro but Corel is great. Just remember you will get what you pay for. Hope that helps oh and welcome :D

If you ever want to post pics you have 2 options 1. If there on a website you can hit the button above "IMG" and put in the url address of the picture. To get the address of a pic online you can "right Click" on a image and then "click on properties", in that window it will display the "http://mysite.com/pic.jpg". Past that address in the IMG window. 2. If it's on your computer you can upload to the post your making by clicking below "Browse" find your pic and click on it, then hit "add This Attachment", then hit the "Add Reply" when done
