This particular station had at least 200 - 300 extremely hot chicks coming and going all day long. And a couple streakers that casually went shopping in the store, which made all the local news. Very distracting place to work. Should have been charging hazard pay.

Our first ACM wrap on a conopy. That's my wife, Katie, up there... This was done at night due to the heat up in Lake Havasu.

    More Chevrons

The only thing that really sucks about Station Refreshes is the amount of pigeon crap that can be found on top of some canopies. I went in to dry-heeves on one canopy once... It had been raining and the stench was pretty significant.

A little bit of everything envolved with these refreshes. Neon Wordmarks & Hallmarks. LED Downlighting around the canopy. Flourescent Lamps in the new Spanners. New POS's and Trash Cans. Pumps get new vinyl and decals, or they get new pumps. Columns get new paint or Cladding, and in some cases get cultured stone or stucco. Ballards get new paint as well and new reflective striping.

Pretty much what we have up to for the past year.
  14. I had re-read this entire thread to make sure what it is y'all are discussing. To the best of my knowledge... Sign Broker? An un-licensed sign company can (and they do everyday) sell signs to anyone, as long as they are using a licensed sign contractor to pull the permit and do the installation, and of course the signs have to be made by someone with a UL certification. It's a shadowy gray area of the sign business that I never got envolved with simply because I didn't have the time, or inclination. We have, in fact, one local wholesale-to-the-trade ONLY Licensed Sign Contractor that is doing quite well in this market. More power to him, and all the other Licensed Sign Contractors who do this that I''m not aware of. In the end the Licensed Sign Contractor who pulled the permit is the responsible party. Sign Intaller? Likewise a Licensed Sign Contractor can sub out the installation to anyone they want, however; they (the licensed sign contractor) remain the responsible party for the work being done. Just as they can hire anyone they want into thier company, hand that person the keys to thier spanking new L60 Elliot and send them off to install a sign. The licensed sign contractor is the responsible party. Getting back on track... Deadbeat National Sign & Lighting Companies I was over surfing around on signweb just before I came here. Oddly enough, I logged on here to paste this link which is right on topic... Deadbeat Thread

    Keep pounding, it'll fit!
  19. Thanks joemamma, That pretty much seals the deal. My crane specs say I can lift 6 tons (in it's prime, which was back in the 80's); my pill on the line can only handle 3 tons. Add the fact that I don't think this thing could handle being moved without falling apart and costing me $$$ in the long run. They are just gonna have to pony up and spend the money on Demo and building a new sign.
  20. I'm about to turn down a job kinda like this. The monument sign behind my bike needs to be moved further back on the property due to downtown road expansion. It consists of Aluminum panels attached to 2" marble slabs mounted to a cinder block core structure, which sits atop a 1' x 1' x 10' concrete footing, which is attached to the main footing and that is (according to the city) supposed to be 2' x 3' x 10'. Nevermind the amount of digging it would require to get under all that - most of the mortar for the cinder block core is deteriorated, the blocks are being held together by gravity and the marble slabs. It's an ugly job and I think I'm gonna have to pass. But just out curiosity, does anybody (joemamma) want to take a stab at calculating how much this thing would weigh?
  21. My 100th post... Great job on the site, Erik!
  22. I have been disconverbulated and out of sorts ever since the shout box has been down. Damn it, where's my coffee cup!!! Oh,... nevermind I found it. Aaahh, that's better. The new board looks great, by the way.
  23. Our last vacation: Flew over to San Diego in the morning and walked around the zoo all day. Back to the airport that night and flew to Vegas. Got a room and ran around Vegas all night and day. Gambled away one whole dollar. Back to the airport that night. Watched the 4th of July fireworks from the upper deck of the airport parking lot. Got on the plane and flew home. We power vacation. A sailing cruise around the islands would be great!
