  1. Cool idea. They need to incorporate that into the easier to use strippers.
  2. From the album: Neon Signs

Appx. 4 ft. x 6 ft. window sign, circa mid 1980's. I did the full size graphics/pattern by hand. The only thing I had to go by was the customer telling me his idea over the phone. This was part of a large restaurant / bar complex in Myrtle Beach, SC. We did various other smaller custom neon signs for around the inside of the establishment. This one hung in the front window of the atrium bar that projected from the front of the building. The front window faced US Hwy. 17 (Ocean Blvd.) It was mounted on clear plex. The backside of all the neon was dipped (blocked out). Transformers were mounted in a custom made box above the window, which was painted to match the rest of the surroundings. The GTO was thru conduit, which was also painted to match and was made to look like supports for the sign. I have the main identity sign somewhere.

    Graphics & Hand Lettering

    Some old projects
  6. From the album: Graphics & Hand Lettering

This is a truck I hand lettered almost 30 years ago. The picture is a scan of an old Polaroid snap shot, so the quality of the picture is not very good. This was long before computers and vinyl cutters were ever thought of. The full size pattern was drawn by hand from a business card. The paper pattern was traced with a pounce wheel and the letter outline was applied to the truck via a pounce bag. The truck was then hand lettered.

    Pac-Man Forever!

    From the album: Neon Signs

This is something I did 20+ years ago. The picture is a scan of an old Polaroid picture, so the quality is not very good. The sign was an entry for a contest to win a full size arcade Pac Man machine. I came in 3rd overall. I drew the graphics to full size by hand. The sign was 4 ft. x 8 ft. overall. Anything white is standard Voltarc 6500 Snow White. The Pac-Man is clear bright yellow. The red ghost is old Corning coated ruby red. The pink ghost is standard blue filled with red gas. The blue ghost is standard blue with the normal argon/mercury fill. The tan ghost (the true color doesn't show in the picture) is an old Sylvania color called “flesh” (which would no doubt be exceedingly politically incorrect these days) and has not been made for decades. The blue in the eyes of the ghosts is coated cobalt blue, and the Pac-Man letters are coated noviol gold.

  9. Isn't 6% called LITE BEER? j/k, I'm not a big fan of dark or heavy beer. You have to remember, I have been known to wear pink cloths But here's the kicker: Women used to LOVE those cloths
  10. Umm, I think the general message is........... YOU'RE NOT!
  11. We have been fairly busy lately with equipment sales. Certainly not what it was in the early 90's when I had 3 other people working for me, but it surprises me a little considering the state of the neon equipment market of late... with all the so-so "refurbished" used neon equipment being sold for bottom dollar in the past couple of years. Maybe people are finally tired of "getting what they paid for" and are willing to spend a little more to get better equipment? Who knows, but I am not complaining. I have sold some nice used burners and such in the past month after we have reconditioned them the *right* way instead of the *quick 'n easy way*! I have even had some former "refurbished neon equipment" customers contact me asking if there is anything we can do to help their equipment work better from how they received it. I found this interesting and enlightening considering the reputation the seller supposedly has for their "refurbished equipment". But after seeing some of it first hand it doesn't surprise me. I guess when everything is said and done you get what you pay for
  12. IMO attorney's are right near the top of the list of all time "necessary evil's" - right next to insurance companies. It is my experience (and I have dealt with a bunch of them in my life) that there are very few attorney's who are truly honest. If you do not have deep pockets and/or there is not the possibility of a big settlement, they will discourage you from proceeding even if you could win, but would only be awarded actual damages and not attorney's fees - in which case they wouldn't get much. If you want the chain to break you go after the weak link. You said the broker tried to get you to dump more money even after the scam was evident. Maybe he is getting a kick-back from the insurance company? Did he really throw in $800 of his own money? Ask him to show you proof. A "good faith gesture" like that is hard to believe. It's your situation and you will ultimately do what you want, but I would be damned before I would roll over and play dead that easy because some insurance broker didn't know what he was doing! Or did he?
  13. Hooking you up with an insurance company that scams people and he still tries to talk you into spending more money with them isn't gross negligence? I don't know what the laws are where you are but it may be worth looking into filing a complaint with a Magistrate. Here in SC a Magistrate can here cases up to $7500. And they can base their decision on a preponderance of the evidence, not necessarily cold hard facts (although they do help). It would cost a small filing fee ($40 here) and the judge would decide the case, not a jury. At the very least the insurance company would have to pay their attorney to show up in court on their behalf. That would cost them some money right off the top whether they win or lose. What you would have in it is your time and the filing fee. As for the rest, it looks like you have those bases well covered. If nothing else maybe they will be covered up with answering inquires from the various entities.
  14. Sorry to hear about this. Yeah, insurance companies suck the big one. I've always felt that they are at the top of the list of all time "necessary evil's". Your agent or broker (whatever you want to call him) was representing the insurance company. That makes him a party to all of this. I think you should get a second opinion from another attorney as to what you can and cannot do. Seems to me you could hold the broker liable and make him pay wahtever the insurance company wants. JMO
  15. Sorry, my mistake. I forgot Jacob was in Chitown. I had a brain fart and thought he was farther West...
  16. Northwest Technical College, Ed Waldrum, Lightwriters, Evergreen State College, etc., etc. ALL West of the Mississippi - just to name a few...
  17. Sounds like a plan to me Although getting through the airport check-in may be a bit tough...
  18. LOL - Yeah, blacklisted for trying to sell a used hand torch! I bet if I wanted to post a message and say bad things about TheSignSyndicate.com my message would be posted Take a deep breath and calm down. I'm sure Joe meant Sean Scott.
  19. Yeah, that's the way it usually is. I just happened to click on the wrong link the other night and thought, 'What the hell. I'll scroll down and see if anything has been posted in the past year (sic)'. And there it was: Jack's post on Aug. 14th in the neon forum for his "refurbished" neon equipment. I couldn't believe it had been there for a week without being removed, so I figured I'd give it a try. I don't remember exactly what night it was, but I think it was Sunday night. I expected to see my post by mid morning on Monday (knowing that Mr. Scott reviews all posts before letting them go through). I checked this morning and my post (either one of them) are not there and Jack's "For Sale" stuff is still at the top. So it isn't like Jack tried to sneak it in somewhere in response to someone else's post further down.
  20. Depends. If he knows you work for EGL you don't stand a chance. If he doesn't, he'll probably let you post it. Then again, maybe not unless you talk to him like a velvet fog like Jack likes to do with people in an attempt to fool them from seeing his true intentions. (Thankfully some of us stopped being blinded by the smoke screen a long time ago). And don't forget that even if your post is initially allowed I am sure *someone* will discretely make Mr. Scott aware of who you work for and the post will be removed. I have gathered enough info at this point to know this is how the "Jackal" operates. Not only do I think you should try, but if he doesn't allow the post I think you should send him an email specifically pointing out his double standard - not to mention the fact that he is allowing For Sale items to be posted in the neon forum by only one person.
