  1. One last thing - nice thing to do is to makr on inside of cover which section of sign is controlled by each transformer - keeps from guessing when you get old and senile.

Also, are my eyes deceiving me or is the material used actually sheet metal letters and sign?

  2. Couple comments from the peanut gallery. NICE!! Yeah, I'll just bet your metal man loves you - but he did a damnnice job on those bitchy letters. Better treat him well. Glad you cut down on the four rows of neon that you were originally talking about also. You made it much easier, neon wise, and much cleaner. Looking forward to the night pics. In the one pic showing the neon, caps, and boots - I really think the boots were upside down for the install? You could have had the crane truck jusst a bit further from the wall though -- he then could have used all his stick. Can't you reserve parking spaces in your town? Glad the son is learning how to work - but PLEASE, get him interested in something besides the sign trade! Also notice that Kgirl isn't on site - get tired of her getting hurt on the job?

    Nice, clean job ---- again!

  3. Guys - can't seem to put pics on the PM's. Please send me your emails, as I have the pics, and prices now and ready to send out. Also - if anyone closer to Illinois - have a Knack box, another storage box on wheels, shelving, and a cross bed box on wheels used for storage. Also have heavy duty 4 x 10 shelving, uprights, and shelves, and 3/4" wood for the shelves themselves. Pick up only on that stuff.

Sorry for the delay --- as I know everyone was losing sleep over this..

  4. Strange. Blow up some of the pics of their signs - exposed outdoor neon - illegal boots and wiring. They have a drive thru sample sign - conduit stops about 6" from the sign and continues as wire. Prime work. They state they are state and city licensed? And their technicians are all state certified quality technicians. Must be some new stamp to stick on their chest?

Nice facility if they actually have oveer 4000 sq ft set aside just to demo signs -- and free tours. You really should put on a mask and go over and take a look see. Take some good photos while there and post for us - just be fun to see.

  5. Cleaning out a bunch of stuff. Some is for sale, some for give away. Have box of various samples of leds that might come in handy for service, or sampling. Have complete signcomp samples to make a wall sample kit, similar to what signcomp displays at shows. Have set of five finger burner heads, have classic cannon fires. Have Hilti TE 52 and Hilti TE 74, with bits. Have complete box of Corian samples if there is anyone out there that utilizes such. Have samples of Lumitext edgelit samples looking for a new home. Have cannon fire (like used in Europe for bending, or US for pyrex work, and also several of the single tip German torches (again used in Europe, but also in US for pyrex work, etc), have oxygen generator also. To keep from clogging the signsyndicate - please PM me, or email me direct. If I don't personally know you, please tell me who you are and what you do - as I'm not giving/selling this stuff to wannabees. Have some triphosphor sample lamps from Voltarc - but not sure if they can be shipped readily. Also have an ancient PORTABLE spark type tube tester - works off a Everready NO 484 - 45 volt battery.

  6. Olympic signs is probably one of many Chhicago companies that bid on that job. should be interesting to see them fit all those tight bends with the new product. Will sure have less illumination than the red neon. All the companies around here, like elsewhere, won't even argue agaainst leds anymore. Most have shuttered their neon plant anyway. The labor is cheaper, wiring is easier, breakage is non existent, and the warranty is forever. So -- case closed. That "bad" neon "piping" gets EPA approved thrown away? Meaning, since its red - it can legally get dumped in the dumpster. Wow,, now that is a major selling point to the client.

But "---has lead his team in the production of a new mold, a new source of energy and a new spin on an old goal--" was the funny part.

That same company has done neon exterrior and interior for a major chicago hot dog establishments - even now out in Arizona. Their installs out here - not UL or legal by any imagination, esposed gto, no trode caps outside, hardly any on the inside, wire thru the walls on the interior stuff - but they got the jobs firmly in hand. Oh, did I say that the Chicago and suburbs areas have the best inspectors?

  7. Great! I had my truck, myself and helper on the set fur "used cars" when they filmed in Phoenix. we were there for about five weeks, everyday, all day. We did about 8 hours of work total. They had no concern for money at all. What a great gig! Golden time, double golden time.....and we weren't even union. Really neat how they make movies...

Future work is always a good thing!
