  1. I had the old lady look them up. We did a few jobs for them last year. Payed 70-90+ days. I guess that's why we don't work with them anymore. Wife's notes show we had to call them numerous times.

    Mark;

    Thank you so much. You helped make my decision easier.

    Hopefully the corporate world will wake up an realize these Parasites are not necessary and simply dealing directly with many of the hard working contractors on this board would make life much easier and definitely more economical........

  2. I believe they were RMS....Actually I'm sure they were. Check em out on the National review. You may remember them.

    Mark;

    Thanks for the reply.......

    I think RMS may be "Essential" not "Ascential". These NSP companies are replicating like fruit flies so it is hard to keep track. I think Facility Source bought Ascential but I don't have any information on either other than what I researched. I got an invitation to become a "Partner" with these folks but I have no track record on them. Their contract, as it relates to payments, is extremely vague so any direct experience would be appreciated. If none is available, I guess I will just have to pass on this glorious opportunity.

  3. Erik;

    I like the appointment of Paul Signs. Looking at the amount of lights he has on his fleet of beautiful trucks, I know he will be able to illuminate the way forward on the path to Integrity for the subject ISA.

    I would also like to nominate Chubbygumby as the Sargeant at Arms for your staff. He has just the personality to help establish order.

  4. Erik;

    You have just outlined a policy juxtaposition of major proportion.

    On one hand we have Title 24, which I agree is a major fraud and does indeed drive up cost on many projects. I work on "ground ups" in the Petroleum industry and can write a book on the horror stories it presents in many cases. But, it is law here in California and it must be adhered to, no matter the pain. The government gone wild........

    On the other hand, we have a state like Wisconsin that has now said that licensed companies and technicians are no longer useful in making sure that a sign is installed in a workmanlike and professional manner. "License, we don't need no stinking license" Apparently crane operation, footings and electrical systems is knowledge that is gained by osmosis and should never be questioned or challenged. The ISA lackey even went further in saying that this whole matter will insure the vibrancy of the sign industry in Wisconsin. I wonder how that it is the case that no check or balance on those folks installing signs will insure the vibrancy of the industry. This is tantamount to saying that burglary laws are preventing the myriad of criminals from making a living by invading your home. Or even better, drunk driving laws are preventing drunks from getting behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. Incredible. The private sector gone equally wild.............

    I wonder if the nut less, gut less representative from this suspect organization would have the Huevos to respond on his venue and explain to us worthless, licensed contractors how it is beneficial to have a flock of unlicensed Hacks roaming on scene? Come on ISA, grow some and explain this to all of us. I wonder also how any contractors who bothered to gain the knowledge necessary to install and who had the determination to get a license feels about getting his or her derriere getting slammed by the organization they belong to. How could you belong to an organization that has leaders who work against the better interest of its members. I guess it is the Forrest Gump syndrome revisited, "Oh, Okay" or "Stupid is as Stupid does"............

    Or it could be that we are not interpreting this legislation properly and you Erik, have misrepresented the facts here on this board. Or maybe we have just misinterpreted the facts as they have been presented. Either way, I would be curious to hear from the ISA on this subject. I won't hold my breath though. Hopefully they will grow some and prove me wrong.

    But be that as it may, I always have maintained that we are driven by the far left or the far right and we have to live in the common sense middle, both as contractors and citizens. So I would say be careful what you wish for when navigating either extreme and placing people in positions in power positions because you may just get what you wish for.

    But just like the Pillsbury Doughboy thread, it is apparently a done deal and it is over but the crying.

  5. Erik;

    I would have to disagree with you about China and their products. I say 100% of the stuff coming from "Communist China" is pure, unadulterated CRAP!

    And Brady, I think this whole thing sounds to me like you are treating this as a high school project because you are bored with computers and want a new means of fun and income. To most here, the sign industry is a serious business that we embarked on for many years as our profession. Signs and Electrical is all i have ever done and take extreme Pride in what I do. I know most on this board feel the same. So i would be careful when putting out a product that at the heart has components that are produced in "Communist China" and if like everything else coming from that country, will cause you grief in the future if your quest to build an enduring enterprise. Hopefully that is your end game.

    Take this as constructive criticism and not a personal attack which I can promise you it is not.

  6. Louvered with screen vents is the plan. Definitely need the screen vents, that's for sure. The signs will not get any water/bugs in them when it's all said and done. As far as a completed product, It should be done and installed in about 2 weeks.

    Post pics....... Hope you are successful with your endeavor.

  7. Just had a fairly sizable earthquake hit Southern California. Epicenter was La Habra, California, the next city over from me. Holy Crap.............

    Electricity down, main water and some gas lines bursting and general pandemonium for our local emergency responders and police departments. Everybody on my block gathering on the front lawn to unwind.

    Kind of puts things in perspective when Mother Nature comes a callin' about what is really important in our collective lives.

    Hope every one else in the North OC area of California is OK.

  8. Magic Mouth.gif

    The Magic Mouth isn't speaking this time, he's doing. He's selling his house, moving and risking it all....even hanging his ***** out to the wind to create a grand arteestic new venture in an old dungeon. Well, let's all see if he's successful and hope the Magic Mouth isn't homeless at his own risk. But at least he's using his own money this time, let's see if the mouth has something behind it, no marketing statements will help him with this, it's do with your own two hands.

    No more Brewskis at lunch for you my Captain.........

  9. Can anyone remind me what company Conoco Phillips uses for their gas price changeable numbers? Specifically Phillips 66 stations, I used to have them in my contacts but for some reason I cannot find them.

    I think these guys make pricing signs for Conoco Phillips................

  10. Do you think Fluoresco will handle outsourcing the installs and service for the franchise brands that Everbrite builds?

    Sean;

    Excellent observation. Why buy an installation company in California and Arizona if the end game is Not To Install themselves.

    Having an affiliation over many years with Everbrite, I can say they are a company that has a keen eye on workmanship and professionalism.

    So I would assume if they hitch their wagon to Fluoresco, they plan to rehabilitate the name and use it or simply use the assets under their name.

    Either way, I would have to assume the answer is yes.

  11. I have no dog in the fight but it seams like Kendal has a pretty nice sign operation going on. He is obviously not an idiot. if he wants to put his money into another venture who are any of us to belittle him? Thats what being an entrepreneur is all about. As long as he does it by the book and has it buiit correctly and engineered who really gives a fug. Am I still going to spend 30k more on a manitex? probably but get off his ass. geeze

    Very well said Keith..........

    I am assuming that I-Crane is no longer a viable business, Kendal wants to purchase the assets and reinvigorate the company under his guidance, using his business acumen in the sign industry. Hopefully this is correct.

    Also, I am assuming a Sam Marcum, who I do not know, was once affiliated with this company, took some liberties with some decent folks and then vamoosed. Further, I am assuming that the company could not get out from underneath the stigma of this Sam Marcum and now they are no longer a player.

    Further, I am assuming that Kendal owns these cranes, likes these cranes and wants to make a stab at a new business with a new set of specifications.

    I agree with Keith, lets applaud his effort rather than tear him down. If he does it right, why can't it be a success. If it fails, it's his time and his dollar.

    I think he has indicated that he will follow all rules of the game with certifications and safety . Let him give it a shot. This spirit of entrepreneurship is what drives this great country.

  12. I was and still am confused by this thread. I thought everyone was talking about I Crane and whether or not they are a viable company still in business. The other poster, Kendal, is apparently not talking about I Crane but his own brand that he is going to build?? Maybe I am getting this wrong.

    Is I Crane still in business and what does that have to do with Kendal building his own, which I would say is still legal in this country. If he can put the capital and know how into his own venture, then I say have at it. I would hope that he would follow all the proper protocols in launching his new business and I would bet he would.

    I wish him well...................
