  1. And MORE white shit falling tonight. We went from sub zero to 60 degrees last week. Now it's around 20 and more snow tonight
  2. Burke Enterprise, LLC seeking a full time sign fabricator / installer / service technician. Clean DMVR Full Time Burke Enterprise, LLC Oakdale, CT 06370 Email info@burkeenterprise.com with resume visit www.burkeenterprise.com to see examples of our work.
  3. John, Do I qualify for the job? Good luck, the last GOOD guy I hired took 6 months to find.
  4. I agree with John. If there isn't a disconnect on ANY sign we service the first thing we do is shut down the power and install the switch. Then go on to see what is wrong with the sign. I feel terrible when I hear about unnecessary deaths like this but if you don't know what your doing you shouldn't be doing it. Sympathy to his family and friends.
  5. Paul you've got it. I just today had to explain to a Ben & Jerry's manager that just because the have LED's that are lit the sign illumination level is such that it looks out. His response was "But LEDs are supposed to last forever" It's frustrating that after a lifetime as a lighting designer and years in the sign industry I just don't know anything.
  6. Finally!!!! A little national attention to our classic products. I so wish the codes would let us animate exterior signs here. No flashing, sequencing, or blinking allowed in exterior signs in CT
  7. Good luck! It took me over 6 months to replace a tube bender here. If you send me your e-mail I'll forward you a resume I got 2 days after our new bender started.
  8. Jeff. did you contact me by e-mail a while ago? Please send me your resume along with expected salary to bob@burkeenterprise.com Thanks
  9. It seems EVERY time one of our "good customers" tell me they can get it for less online I get a call within 2 years to come fix it. Funny how our service rate can go up for those calls. I just can't figure it out..... Can anyone out there shine shit?
  10. I agree with Eric, If the neon is installed correctly it will outlast the LED and give a better ROI. You will be doing your customer a miss service selling him the LED. Show him the facts data sheets for cost to install and operate then let him decide.
  11. You can also try Quality Sign Crafters in Willimantic, CT a try they have always done well by me.
  12. For the last year and a half we've been using a used AT&T 30' bucket. It works great as a service unit but not so good for installs as they have no way to pick up anything. I got it from a small used car dealer who got several of them when AT&T sold out to Frontier. The good side is since it was an AT&T truck the maintenance was always done the bad side was that they ran it 8 to 10 hours a day. We have had and fixed some minor issues but still well worth the cost. As stated above you get what you pay for, a used truck is just that a USED truck.
  13. Korea is better than China but still.... Does anyone make ANYTHING in the USA? I know your doing your best as are all of us I'm just venting.

  15. The last time one of the nationals we work for took a much lower price they had to hire us to go fix the mess that was made. Don't under price yourself especially to the point that you have to do shoddy work. Do a great job for a good fair price and make a living. You don't need to take of the marbles but if you don't go home with some of them in your pocket you can't play again tomorrow.
  16. Does this mean that the constant voltage LEDs that are used in a dimming system (as in a building using lutron controls for the lighting) will be brighter at the beginning of the string and dimmer at the ends? Erik we may have a problem with the casino project we have been talking about!!!! Can I get by by making more home runs to the power supply and feeding from the middle of each string?
  17. These guys look like the shop I send some of my work to Quality Sign Craft in Willimantic, CT. Another family owned shop with more pride than money. They do great work always ready to help. On the ASI adhesives. I've been using them more often than Lords too but find they tend to harden in the tube sometimes. Maybe they are getting too hot or cold I'll have to look into it. Last week our shop was 25 degrees and today the tubes were shot my fault for not keeping it warm.
  18. I have had great things done by Quality Sign Crafters in Willimantic CT. They ship anywhere and have reasonable prices. Also a family owned business another pluss from my point of view. sales@qualitysign.us will get you in touch with them
  19. Thanks Paul. I'll add that to the 2 pages of legal jargon in our contracts. It's so worth the extra paper and ink to be on the safe side
  20. We have a similar rig with an altec at200 30' bucket. An old AT&T truck they had 2 conduit boxes we use for lamps up to 96" I have 2 spares if you want them pm me
  21. 190'??? You go ahead up there. I'll send my iron workers out on those jobs even with the union rates thank you Plus anything wireless can be hacked I wouldn't want to be up there if that happened.
  22. We have done a lot of restoration work here. With this one since it was hacked long ago you only have 2 options. The first one and by far the best is to find all origional parts not easy but worth it. The second depends on the client being good with it. Do a total gut and modern set up. The value of the clock will go to $0.00 but it will be safe and work as a disply item.
