Allen Industries expanding in Phoenix
Matt Evans Reporter- The Business Journal Allen Industries, a Greensboro signage company focused on retailers and restaurants, is expanding its operations with a new facility in Phoenix. The company, which has about 300 employees, bought an existing sign company in Phoenix three years ago, absorbing its ten employees. The company quickly outgrew that building and has now moved into a new one three times larger, and doubled its workforce in that city, according to a news release. Allen Industries also has a factory in Clearwater, Florida. Allen Industries was founded in High Point in 1931. It made signs for the first Hardee's restaurants in the 1960s and now serves more than 3,000 Hardee's and Carl's Jr. restaurants around the country. Other clients include Family Dollar, Longhorn Steakhouse and Lowe's Home Improvement. President Tom Allen said fast-food restaurants like Hardee's and discounters like Family Dollar have proven to be valuable clients in the recent economic environment, allowing for his company's growth. “We have a good spread of accounts, and the fact that some of our clients actually flourish during a tough economy has helped," he said.
