Anyone having any issues with these, not necessarily it going out and failing but possibly the LEDs that are attached to it catastrophically failing?
Reason why I as just made aware of this by chance.
In February of this year I made a note that the ElectraLEDs that we had in the Great White Hope had catastrophically failed and I uploaded a video on Youtube showing this. I was contacted by the company today and when I went to open the compartment to check the power supply because it was in question....I noticed on my meter that it was spiking/fluctuating from 12.6 to 12.83 rapidly. I'm guessing the LED product was constant current and doing a good job of masking the secondary supply fluctuation with the light staying consistent.
Anyhow I know have to go back and update all the logs for the Great White Hope. I would have noticed sooner when this occured because usually when a product fails we simply replace it with another but since I was closing the GWH anyway I had no intentions of replacing it with another product line where we always record the initial energy readings along with light output. All Power supplies as you know we use Axiom, the trusted power supply for all our test projects, mainly because the DC is manually adjustable form 10.5 to 15volts and we can be sure all voltages are dead set to 12 volts. However, so there are no excuses on the light source mfg end we usually ask if they have a recommended PS, if so we usually make a point to pick up that PS.
Back to the subject, I've never experienced a PS to fluctuate with more than the required power before, this is new to me. Sometimes I would see them blink, or just simply fail, but never spike like this.
I'll upload the video I took of the spiking over the weekend, but was just curious if they experienced this too, or just thought maybe the LEDs took a crapper and never measured the PS
