  1. I think a venting/shoot the shit forum is a way to build community. I know that the community of people that seem to have built relationships on this site keeps me coming back to it. Although I don't post everyday or all that often I come here at least twice a day. I come b/c I know that this place still has activity and people are still talking here. There are so many forums or message boards out there for the sign business but most of them still have threads on the front page that haven't been commented on since 2006. Thats two years ago and these forums are dead. If you happen to have a specific question you'd like an answer to you'll never get it on a dead forum b/c no one is looking at it anymore. Not to mention the benefits to the advertisers here. The more interesting the overall site and/or forum is the more people will visit it.....more hits to the site = more hits on ads. I could go on about the benefits of building "The Sign Syndicate Community" but I'll leave it at this for the moment. although, I do agree with chubbygumby about the subject of booting people for not posting. I'm against it b/c I personally don't post a whole lot. Not b/c I'm spying or up to no good but b/c I feel I have a lot more to learn here than I have to teach. So most of the time I find myself just sitting back and reading. I usually read something I didn't know and then I start searching the internet for info about the subject and by the time I'm satisfied with my own research I have no time to come back and respond.
  2. I hate that this didn't get the response it needed. I had not registered for it yet, for various reasons but it was marked on the calendar and i was going to bring a group of no less than 5 with me.
  3. I'm looking for any or all neon shop equipment. If you have or know someone who has any shop equipment to sell please contact me at ThunderBoltNeon@hotmail.com with info and price. Slightly used to workhorse equipment is fine but please nothing held together by sawdust, chewed gum, chicken wire and electrical tape.......in other words....NO MACGYVER EQUIPMENT PLEASE!
  4. well, after about two full months of having my mother-in-law live in our spare bedroom she is finally going home! HELL YEAH! i love her to death but i'm so damn ready to have my house and office back. so i'll probably spend the weekend walking around in my undies and burping and farting at will.
  5. i hit inside the "25-35" demographic and i'm just a baby in the industry but i'm excited to seek out companies, websites and individuals willing to help me take my career to the next level. i'm obviously money-motivated but i can make money doing a multitude of "jobs". my passion has truly become neon/signage and its the first thing that i've done in my life, jobwise, where i'm not thinking of what i'll be doing next year. i have no doubt that the sign industry is my career and that i'll be doing it in some form for the rest of my life. unfortunately it is difficult to find people willing to actually teach you the ways of the industry. on the flip-side of that, if someone isn't willing to seek out worthy and willing mentors then how serious are they? personally i'm super self motivating when it comes to my passions so an immediate lack of an industry mentor is only a hurdle and not a mountain. thats why i enjoy this site so much. i was putting google through the wringer looking for places to learn and discuss neon and signage and most other places were either dormant or just out and out bullshit. this place stood out to me from the first second i visited. it seemed to me that there are individuals here that knew a ton about many different facets of the industry and weren't afraid to talk about it. another thing that was really attractive to me was the very "pro-neon" vibe i got along with the "pro-LED" attitude as well. its important to me to look up to and seek answers from confident people that aren't afraid to see the benefits of other tools and techniques for the greater good of the product. i have further opinions on this topic but its late and i think i've hit the points i wanted to tonight. p.s. - i would like to think that i had "youthful" ambition with an "old-timer" work ethic................thats what i'm shooting for anyway
  6. yeah, this is all for us, at least at this point. maybe one day......long from now we'll go for a third but at the present our hands are full. Tiger(big brother) is doing great with her at the moment. he really loves her and constantly peeks over the side of the basinet and smiles at her. its kind of early to tell though b/c his life is whacky at the moment. we live in atlanta and my mother-in-law has been in town from Corona, Ca. for the last two months so she has been able to keep him occupied. once she leaves and i get back into the swing of work we'll really see what he thinks about this baby girl getting constant attention from his mom. Tiger was 7lbs 11oz but was a month early. he was projected to be a 10 pounder but luckily for my wife he never made it that far.
  7. wow, riding a bike with no training wheels at 23 months is super impressive. my son can't even reach the pedals on his tricycle yet. his super power is playing drums. he has a natural ability and understanding of drums. i'll have to post a video soon.
  8. thanks.........and on the sleep depprevation front, my son is only 20 months old and still has a few teeth left to cut.....which means he'll be screaming through a few nights himself and i'll have double duty. anybody else here have kids that close together? if so, how did the older ones handle having a baby in the house? oh, and good luck with number 3.......4,5 and 6 WCSG!
  9. yesterday my wife gave birth to our second child.....RUBY LOUISE! she was a big one at 8lbs 12oz. she beat out her big brother by a full pound! i'm still on cloud nine so i thought i'd share.
  10. I'm a tubebender that could be interested in relocating for the right opportunity..........and nose-candy free. e-mail me some details at ThunderBoltNeon@hotmail.com ~blaze~
  11. i'm going to try to make it down there
  12. the Giants did everything right tonight. they put brady on his ass and they stayed aggressive throughout the ENTIRE game.............something no one else had done all season against the pats. i loved it...........i'm a manning fan.......PEYTON anyway, but ELI looked great under the pressure tonight. that scramble, throw and catch by Tyree will go down as one of the classic plays in NFL history.
  13. cool, thanks a lot. i was just wondering ballpark figures anyway b/c i wasn't sure how much different the industry and standard of living was out there as apposed to here in atlanta. thanks again
