I think I've seen this in a magazine. I love this kinda work, even though I have the capacity to do it I have yet a need to do it. No one around here has ever requested this type of stuff. Everyone want the boring neon stuff that lights up give me a break

Hey there you had better watch it. The fella that runs this tavern doesnt care for folks that talk smack on neon.

Jo Anne that is my kind of sign right there. Nice and simple looking yet classy and somewhat complicated. I am not a great fan of HDU, but as with so many other materials used within the sign trade it does have a handy nitch as with the key part of the sign.

I love dimensional signage. You should start pushing it WCSG. Make some samples with all your free time.

I visited my sister's place in the Rockies for Christmas and got to take in a huge amount of dimensional signage. Most mountain/touristy spots got ahead of the curve and established bylaws restricting many types of illuminated signage (typically exposed neon and fluorescent boxes, many even channel letters). It was a treat to take in the precision and craft involved in many of the signs. I'm so sick of rectangles with text on them, especially ones showing hotspots from the fluorescent tubes.

I recently had the opportunity to discuss a similar type of sign in Colorado, where the sign shop was going to layer a combination of routed HDU around one of our light panels, which for all intents and purposes, is the middle layer of a ~3" thick suspended storefront sign. The city and the sign shop loved the fact that they got to allow for a tastefully lit sign that was fully in keeping with their sign codes... just waiting to see if the customer is going to proceed.
