This has to be expected out of San Fransicko

You know this can only be expected from the land of Birkenstock wearing, filthy ass, tree hugging hippes right? :bullethole:

Something from the cooc environmental wackos such as this who thinks up this stuff and if by chance gets officiated, where would it stop? It was already bad enough hearing an official over at Edison tell me we should start thinking about installing / adding remotes to all electric signs we produce and install, affixed to buildings or windows, a wireless disconnect that would be controlled by remote at Edison Central for their "flex alert" :pillepalle:

I'm about to receive a kit sent from the city so that I can rat out my neighbors if I see them using water, and to my "interpretation" as unnecessary.

As my UL rep who just left said, "when things get slow and the economy is bad enough, bureaucrats use that down time to enforce more upon us"

Government go away!

Geeze, another "Big Brother" scheme. Let's say someone who doesn't like you tells CON ed (or whomever) that you left lights on in a commercial building - how will they find out? Put meters in every office? Doubtful - you'll be guilty until proven innocent. It's all coming down to the end.....

And my daughter and her fiance live in SF, but they aren't tree huggers. Yet...

Most of those things are excessive and don't need regulation - though California's brownouts do require some sort of added conservation.

I don't see anything wrong with turning lights off in office buildings at night, though. It used to be they were left on to avoid the start-up problems and high voltage surges every morning, and to extend the life of the fluorescent lamp. There have since been improvements with both ballasts and lamps, as well as lowered lamp costs, which offset these issues to a large extent.

I mean really - unless you leave all your house lights on 24-7, or shop & office lights on 24-7... how is it any different to leave empty office buildings on 24- as well? It makes no sense. I dislike that they feel legislation is he way to make it happen, but the intention isn't wrong.

LOL. Well played.

Thanks :lol_hitting:

we actually have the wackos here trying to ban illuminated signs, claiming light pollution. Dark skies is tied into the league of Minnesota cities, two very anti sign organizations.

This would be the direction the wackos want, and they use energy conservation as a vehicle to get there.

This goes to show that rules should not be made by the ignorant.

Having been involved in the HVAC business years ago (designing the control systems), it was common design practice to use the building lights as heating in the cool season. When this becomes politically incorrect, they will have to switch over to resistance heat or gas heat, and run the air handlers to move it around the building. Either that, or let the building go cold overnight then be forced to consume high energy at high rate in the morning to warm it back up.

I'm about to receive a kit sent from the city so that I can rat out my neighbors if I see them using water, and to my "interpretation" as unnecessay.

Hey, just like Mao did in China!

So when are we gonna force this state to be divided into two, and shed the insanity and indebtedness from up north?

Right, and I bet you guys leave all your shop lights on 24-7 to prevent burglaries?

You've heard of "pawnshop green"? Pawnshops would put a single or double 4 ft fluorescent fixture right in the middle of the store ceiling and load it up with F40G green fluorescents - most light for the buck!

Should we keep Napa Valley?

Should we keep Napa Valley?

Not if it would slow down / inhibit the split.

Keep the central valley (food), south (industry, shipping ports, oil) and Sierra (water). Screw the rest of it.

Just because it becomes 'out of state' doesn't mean that you can't 'import' it. Besides, after Sacramento gets gone screwing up their part of the state, wine outta get cheap - the winemakers will be desperate for income (as nobody up there can afford it anymore, or local sales are 'regulated' too heavily) - the old price/volume curve.
